Yay shootin! It's been too long since I got a chance to go plinking. May you never have to shoot at anything other than a paper target (or beer can, if you're out in the sticks.)

amen to that.
its one of those things you want to have, and hope to never ever use.

but at least it shouldnt take too long to get my aim decent. i really was concerned that i would have a lot of work to get over firing flinch

Message Rob on FB, he can tell you a bit about handguns as well, and he doesn't have full use of his hands, though he does have at least 95% use, I think, so he understands the need for a handgun that is easy to handle.

Vis-a-vis paperwork, you're going to have to put up with a bit of douchebaggery from the authorities because you're in Philly (unless you actually live in the burbs, outside the city limits). Still, you shouldn't have any trouble getting the permit. I know that outside of Philly, it's $25 and less than a week to get it. PA also doesn't have a training requirement. For me, getting a PA non-resident license, before we got reciprocity, was easier than getting my original Virginia one.

mostly for ME its the fact that since i was in the army they want copies of my discharge papers. so i had to send away for those.

and the money part... i mean to get a pistol

Didn't know they wanted your DD214. That's gotta be a Philly-only thing. They also refuse permits based on "character and reputation" whenever they think they can get away with it. That whole "City of the First Class" thing needs to get repealed from PA's preemption law.
