I now have two twine rosaries, obtained at the main post chapel at Bagram. The first is a teal rosary with a medal of JP2 on it. I love this rosary because I was having a horrible week and found it in a basket at the front of the church. Teal is my favourite colour. The other is a dark olive one that was given to me at the ceremony they have every Sunday at the end of Mass for the people whose tours are at an end and they are going home. Maybe you made them?

I also use the Rosary Army's Rosary MP3s. Used one last night, in fact.

i have made many Rosaries in both of those colors..
i don't recall donating one with a medal of JP2 on it to the military, mostly because i would have thought it disallowed..

but as is the fun part of this , its *possible* that i could have made either of them.
its more likely that i didnt, but i probably know the person who did.

Aaaaaaaaand if you have a chaplain, or person that would like me to mail twine rosaries to them to give out, feel free to have them contact me directly with their address, as the lady who collected ours for the military has been ill...

I'll have to find out who is the Catholic chaplain right now. It was an Air Force officer, but they only do six month tours so he's likely about to move on now.

I remember you telling me that you were going by someone's standards on what a rosary for the military could look like and I was very insistent that you didn't have to stick slavishly to that. Here's proof. Believe me, splashes of colour are VERY welcome in that environment! My mom was once given a large bag of *knitted* rosaries in all kinds of colours; they were snapped up like hot cakes in my AIT barracks.

probably the chaplain who our co ordinator was dealing with specified "only military and camo colors" and so our co ordinator only took thos.

but i know i gave MANY colored ones to people, in and out of the military. and i have made heaps in all sorts of colors for people who were sending them on to others....
so the fun part is, unless i gave the Rosary to someone myself (and even then) i cant ever be sure where it ended up.

just get me a good address for the "chaplains office" on base, even if you cant get the specific chaplain.... just get me a good address that can receive parcels and i will ship you a few dozen....

Not my faith, but that's a great project. I've forwarded it to my RC in-laws.

thats the great thing about Rosary Army.. they dont push anything on anyone, they dont show up at your door, they dont try to argue with people...
they just hand out free rosaries, to people who ask for them.
and teach people how to make them

very non problematic to anyone else......
one of the things i like about them

but please do pass the information on!

I recently gifted our hospital chaplain with one of your knotted rosaries and it was a huge hit! Thank you!
