I was thinking about the bad set up myself, and I was in the better room. If they had put the dealers in the dining room and the meals in the main dealer's room, they could have had us all together and still managed to feed everyone. The room you were in was just awful. Heck, they could have rearranged the main dealer's room and gotten the tables in the other dealer's room into it. It would have been cramped, but it would have worked.
I left last night too since I am trying to be sick. I've been asleep all day except for coming back to get the truck. We packed up, but since I was sick and having the dealer's room open for 12 hour stretches is grueling, John came and picked me up and we came back for the truck this morning.
I'm going to give it one more year, because I did surprisingly well last year and my normal good sales day is Sunday, so I really can't say I gave it a fair chance this year. But it would have been even worse if I had been in the room you were in.
i normally do well enough to make it worth going to... but this wasnt... and the room i was in? horrid, absolutely horrid. completely off the wall horrid.. heck, if they had made that room a FUNCTION room i could understand it, since people have to deliberately go to the workshop... and moved the dealers into a room with handicapped access. or more on route to something... but that was just awful.
sorry you are sick, when i saw you were gone after i went in to say goodbye i figured your illness had floored you. at least you live near by ish.
You are so lucky to be able to go to Icon. My friends and I have been wanting to go to that for a few years, but it is sooo far away and we can't afford hotel rooms. It hurts especially this year because they are having one of our top favorite authors as a guest, Jane Yolen. She's such and amazing author and it would have been so cool to see her in person. Do you get time to wander away from your table? If so you should try to see her.
not really... but i DO get to see a lot of the guests when they shop! also they often put signings and autograph lines IN the dealers room, and i would see them on route to the ladies room.
if you want to come to ICON.. assuming you are qwilling to stay at the "cheap hotel" let me know. you can always split a hotel room with us.
