Henna is fun to play with and does make your hair beautifully soft. The smell is interesting too.

I think we used to wear old clothes and apply it while sitting in the garden. Meant that if it dropped it fed the plants :D And then to come indoors to wash it off covered it temporarily with an old showercap.

Good luck with the next try :D

Don't know how "Brown" it will go, from everything I've seen, it seems to react a little differently with hair than it does with skin... But I have absolutely NO first-hand knowledge of this, and can only parrot what I've seen /read elsewhere...

When I do henna on my hair, it doesn't mellow over the next few days, it intensifies a bit. I found mixing it with a little olive oil (as suggested in the directions of the Rainbow Henna I buy) helps with the application and with the rinse out. I use a disposable shower cap over it while it develops. I think I actually use a bit more water than the directions I have say, but only so I can get it to actually get in my hair properly. My husband compares the smell to fresh cow pies. Also, future applications will provide more color, as there will already be a bit of a coating on the hair to start with. Using it consistently does help reduce split ends and breakage, which I really appreciate. I apply mine naked hanging my head in the bathtub, with the shower curtain as far from me as I can manage, making sure to work it through to the roots with fingers (and sometimes a fork). Then I coil it on top of my head, cover with the shower cap, throw on some grubby clothes, and wait a couple of hours (keeping paper towels to snag any dribbles). ( ... )

lets see.. i activated it with diluted lemon juice. let it sit for several hours... then mixed it with olive oil ....
then applied it (glop, glop, glop)
then wrapped the head in plastic, then a towel. then slept on it.. (yea overnight) then washed it out in the morning...

its pretty well as intense as it could get...
