apparently today is Ganesha Chaturth   that is the first day of the celebration for  "Ganesha's birthday".
it is considered unlucky/bad/unfortunate to look at the moon tonight, apparently.

anyway, one reason you may want to know this is that all your Hindu tech support folks have the day off.......

He is one of my patrons. I adore him. I did not know what today was, however, so thank you for sharing that info.

I don't know the exact reason it may be bad luck to look at the moon tonight, but I have an idea. There is a legend about why one of His tusks is broken. It is said that he was riding his rat and fell off. The moon laughed at him, so he broke off a piece of his tusk and threw it at the moon in anger. ;)

That may nto be the reason people say that, but it would make sense.
