What. The. Fuck.

Checking facebook...my cousin joined the group National Man Day. That's irritating enough, but here's the description:

This day is the day for all men to stand up and say, "Yes, I am a Man." And "Yes, I will step up and do manly things and whatever I want to do on this glorious day ( Read more... )

Do Facebook have a 'Flagging' system, like LJ, for offensive subject matter? Because I find that offensive.

If you find that offensive, you must have led a pretty sheltered life.

It's stupid, but not worthy of censorship. Jesus.

Sorry, it's 2 am here. What I wanted to be able to do, was put another view point on facebook, without being a member, probably pointless in this instance, as it does seem to rather childish, but I do like to try to offer a balanced view on the things I find important. I don't like censorship at all, unless you'd include warnings of content as censorship (e.g. fanfic on LJ).

As to how 'sheltered' my life has been...? I'm lucky enough to live in the UK, wouldn't claim that my life has been hard, nor that it has been easy... though I'd support the right of someone I 'did' see as having had a 'sheltered' life, to put forward their opinion. I do my best not to judge others at face value...it's not easy, and sometimes I fail, but I do try.

Even on LJ the group wouldn't merit an offensive content flag. Offensive is defined almost exclusively as "bad for the childrens" so it's more for parents than anything.

For that matter, a group devoted to gay teens is often considered offensive. Allowing people to pick and choose what they think should be flagged based on purely subjective criteria would be a rather poorly thought out set up.

It's stupid, but I wouldn't over think it. It's more immature than anything.

It was more of a "seriously? Are you fucking kidding me?" kind of thing than something I'm going to lose sleep over or be ridiculously offended by. What bugs me more is how many people feel this way, even though we're certainly not in the midst of a metro-era at the moment.

I think it's more that I forget how very red-state my relatives are in terms of culture, not just politically.

Where to start....? Bend over and take it like man seems like a fun place to begin. Drink 16 martinis and STILL be working it in those heels is another. But my personal favourite would have to always be: back in my University days, going clubbing with my predominantly straight class-mates and whenever some Neanderthal decided to hassle one of the girls, how come it was always the (virtually token) gay guy that everyone presumed was a big sissy girly poof that always rescued the girls. Manliness is not determined by sexuality. I hope this 'Manly day' is promptly colonized by queers of all dimensions and sensibilities. Damn I'm ranting again. Sorry. I'm just looking for a fic with a broken link actually. Well chookas darl.

I think it's called irony. Take it as a joke and nothing more.
