Better to hear about burned private bits than to get on the bad side of a teacher.
Not to mention Professor Mcgonagall is the last person I really wanted to get on the bad side of.

I'm sure she'll forgive you, mate, but sooner or later is left for time to tell. If anything, you can always tell her I made you say it...what's a few more detentions? Besides, Dumbledore will probably take care of it, I don't think he much likes the idea of private conversations being broadcasted like that.
