Netherlands and Germany! Part 3 / Голландия и Германия! Часть 3

May 07, 2016 20:43

For the final part of my little adventure in Netherlands and Germany, now is the time to talk a little bit about Enschede, Netherlands. Enschede is much bigger than Gronau (Germany), but much smaller than Münster... Yet, Enschede was like a tiny version of Amsterdam - the only other city I have spent a lot of time in. Beautiful architecture, coffee ( Read more... )

>>DUTCH FOOD IS AWESOME

Sure, second only to English one in its sheer deliciousness. Fried potatoes with mayonnaise are the best :) have you tried herrings?

I'd highly recommend checking out The Hague/Delft/Rotterdam area next time, plus Belgian Flanders: not as seedy, highly cultured places. Especially Delft, one of the most beautiful little towns in Europe.

Hmm, English food, really? I'm not a huge fan of English food ... After living there for 3 years, I am kind of sick of it. Fish and chips, the occasional English breakfast and a "fry-up" is decent, as well as Admiral's pie and other kinds of pie, but it ends there for me. :) Well, actually, the English traditional Christmas meal with turkey, gravy, Yorkshire puddings and so on, is DELICIOUS :)

I definitely need to go down to the Rotterdam area. Considering Belgium too, don't know much about Flanders, but definitely wanted to check out both Brussels and Bruges. Thanks for the recommendations! :) Delft looks interesting.

It was actually a bit sarcastic, sorry, as in my personal experience, Dutch food was the only one worse than in England, in whole Europe. And my friends living there in Holland totally agree. That is except nice restautants, where you pay 50 euros for a meal, of course. Well, pancakes are ok too, to be fair. Anyway, the quality standards are high of course, and I'm glad you had a nice food experience there :)

As for Flanders, it's the same Dutch people, only they are Catholic, not Kalvinists, and it is more beautiful around there, with flowers and cute little buildings. Plus they have amazingly good chocolate in small shops, nice mussels and over 9000 types of beer to keep you happy :) try Ghent too, university town with plenty of bars, not too touristy. Birthplace of Carlos V, founder of Spanish Empire. I'd say, probably the most beautiful town I've ever seen.

Oh, in this case I understand, hahaha. The dutch food I tried was delicious, never tried the dutch herring, so can't really say much about that. :)

Definitely need to check out Flanders then, sounds very nice... :) Looked up some photos of Ghent too, wow, really need to check out Belgium... Thanks for the suggestions! Chocolate and beer, here I come ;)
