I know some of you were McCain supporters, but judging by my friends page of the past 24 hours, most of you - like me - are quite elated and relieved and happy right now.

But like the new President-elect said in his beautiful and inspiring victory speech at Grant Park in Chicago:

THANK YOU!! And that is one of the primary reasons I am elated at Obama's victory. I do care what the rest of the world thinks! I want to see the world.. there are so many amazing places and people out there, and I want to be a part of it. But I don't want to be ashamed of where I come from. My friend went to Ireland recently, and while there told everyone she was from Canada to avoid initial prejudice. I don't want to have to do that! I'd love to have a country that the rest of the world respects as much as I respect the rest of the world. Coming from you, that means a lot.

P.S. did you see my post on the world's reactions to Obama's victory -- very, very touching.. the picture of the woman from France... wow. I cried along with every one of them. I don't think I've ever cried from happiness.
