Ottomas: Week Five

New to the town for week five is a family likely familiar to many of you, the Ottomas.

A large family, matriarch Dora works occasionally as a substitute teacher, although early in the week, she quit that job to be home to provide childcare services for the brood. Happy in her new home, she passed away Saturday night.

Her son Peter was a de facto head of the family. A sports columnist, formerly with the SimCity Gazette, he moved his family to the town for a new position with the Monkeykid Journal-Intelligencer. Professionally, it was a standard week, as Peter settled into the new position and slowly worked on advancement. He was not a particularly ambitious man so the desire to leave the sports desk was minimal, at best.

Wife Samantha was an elementary school teacher by trade, although her repeated pregnancies caused her to miss much work. Indeed, she arrived in town pregnant once again and gave birth Wednesday morning to twins, Jaden and Neveah. With the twins born and Dora at home to mind them, she was able to go back to work, but as with her husband, she was not a particularly ambitious woman. Looking to the future, she certainly thought about more kids, albeit with the worry they would be able to support so many mouths (Dora's insurance money certainly helped, though).

Oldest son David had a difficult time adjusting to Monkeykid High. He knew no-one and was never one for socializing in the first place. He is obsessed with music and quickly becomes known as a bassist and "goth kid" at school; as the week ends, he still has few friends and is still looking for his first kiss, but is hopeful college will allow him to fit in.

Younger sister Sharla had an easier time with the move as she settled into Monkeykid Primary before growing up and becoming a teen. She had a few friends, but still no-one special. Like her brother, she plans on college next week.

Tommy was a toddler when the family came to Monkeykid and quickly learned all his toddler skills before becoming a child and starting school. Tommy spends most of his time reading and painting and has few friends outside the family.

The twins were born, became toddlers, learnt all their skills and became children at the end of the week. They look forward to starting school next week. They are, as many of you might know, not blessed with good looks - indeed, one might say they are downright ugly. It remains to be seen if that will affect them as they older (or if they might grow into their looks a little)
