I'm really surprised they decided to hold off the Chuck episodes until January, as there are only two left. My one guess is that they had hoped that talks would've been resolved by then and they could promise there would be more very soon after those episodes aired. Sadly, I don't see that happening. I'm really beginning to wonder when we will see new TV again. Because if this lasts into the Spring, the studios are also forfeiting 2008 pilot season, which I would think would be important to them.
But I don't think I'll understand the studios...ever, so...
I think you're right about Chuck, because I had read that 9 more episodes were ordered. I'm sure they were hoping to get those in too, if things got resolved quickly.
Yeah, you'd think the studios would agree to 2% for the writers instead of going the hemorraging-cash-flow-loss way they are taking. I saw an article (LA Times) that estimated losses of $21.3 million per day during this strike. It's crazy.
One of the problems is that bigger companies behind the studios(like GE), the huge conglomerates that own the studios, for them, TV is a very small percentage of their revenue, so even $21.3 million a day is nothing to them in comparison to the rest of what they have.
Gosh, can you imagine that being nothing? So sad.
By the way, I meant to link this earlier, but here's a good comprehensive list of what's left for many shows. Not all, but a lot of them and Ausiello seems to update as he finds out more info: UPDATED Strike Chart
For another series I might think it was "cancelled" but no-way, no-how would Fox cancel 24. Other than American Idol, it's far and away their highest rated show. So while there may not be a 24 this year, I have little doubt that it will be back.
I hope you're right, because my hubby was v. upset when he heard about it being shelved. It has been a popular show for them, and it would make sense to try to keep it.
The last thing I heard about 24 was that they wouldn't show it unless they could air the entire season uninterrupted as they always have. So I'm pretty sure it'll be back, but as to when...
The worst casualty so far has been my hubby's favorite show, 24. It's been shelved indefintely, which sounds supiciously like a fancy way to say "canceled" to me.
Yeah, that's a real bummer. But I'll really be disappointed if LOST doesn't start up again on schedule.
I agree, too, that the writers have been getting the shaft...especially for not getting what they should from DVD sales.
No they haven't, and that's another thing that's on the table. I think they are only asking for 2% of internet revenues, and still can't get them to agree on it. *shakes head*
I don't like that the strike is making Jay Leno go all the way into their vault or whatever and bringing out shows from like freakin 96. I don't see why they can't do like this years shows or something! Or even last years for that matter!
I hope negotiations go in their favor and it all gets settled soon!! Me too! I'm mourning all those new episodes we could be having, plus. . . the writer's deserve fair pay.

So true. 3% is a pittance.
