When I'm having trouble with a foundation, I apply it using cosmetic sponges in a stippling motion... this doesn't cause brush strokes etc. Try applying the foundation with your bus in criss cross motions, this will also eliminate brush strokes. IMO, you don't really need to break the bank to buy a concealer brush. It's better to spend your money on eye brushes, where the quality really counts.

i either use a stippling brush (mac 187 or studio tools) and apply the foundation in dot motions across my face, until i get the coverage i want.

or ... when im really lazy and dont need full coverage, i use my hands. i just warm the product in my fingertips and gently pat it on my face.

I have a Sonia Kashuk foundation brush that works great at a fraction of the cost for all liquid foundations.

elf's flat top powder brush!

love it, and use it for cream and liquid foundation application, as well. :)

I work @ Sephora. Kinda disappointed that your store didn't run through all your options and explain the differences.

Any foundation type brush will do, the regular style is good for flat, heavy application. The stippling and hd airbrush are good for layering on and buffing in. You could also use a synthetic kabuki brush (Too Faced has a great one)

If you're in a bind, sponges will work too (better than the Camera Ready brush) that you could stipple on an roll to blend. Like any other use of a sponge, it will absorb a lot and the texture of the Smashbox cream foundation might be difficult to blend at more opaque coverage levels unless you set+build.
