March Check-in

Mar 15, 2016 02:00

Drop by today through Sunday to check in by commenting on this post. Check-ins are optional, and if you do check in this month, we'd like a username and word count, as well as an indication of whether or not you plan to provide a rough draft next month.

I think I'm going to have to drop out (again... this seems to be a theme with me and this challenge). Writing hasn't been happening in any capacity for weeks, and there is no immediate change in sight to the things that distract me (read: real life).

So, yeah, dropping out...

I think I am going to have to drop out. I am losing my way with the story and am going to have to take a step back from it.

Where I've basically been since January. I'm not dropping out, yet, but I don't think I'm going for a draft next month given the glacial pace. Is that okay? As long as I'm still in, I have shame over not finishing.

Thank you!

We can work with you on the rough draft if we need to. If shame is what motivates you to finish, I can poke you with a shame stick every now and again. (But only if you want, because the worst shame for me comes from inside, if you know what I mean.)

External shame is what generally motivates me, which is kind of sad when I think about it... I've signed up for Camp Nanowrimo, for this, to try and finish by the end of May? So. I know I can churn out the next 50k, it's just beginning.

[/the pain of all writers]

But anyway, yes, thank you! Frequent shame and pointed reminders that this is well within my capacity and free time (I have massive amounts of free time at work I could be using to do this) would really help. I keep meaning to comment in the "anything goes" posts asking if anyone else would be interested in being a writing buddy or something, to try and keep myself on track, so.

Okay. I'll figure out how to poke you with a shame stick. Don't hate me.
