Happy New Year! (Yeah, I'm late. Fortunately, punctuality is not one of my resolutions.)

If nothing else, I should at least resolve to do my laundry with more frequency this year. My back is killing me from all the folding, hanging, and whatnot. Who knew I had so much clothing ( Read more... )

I'z give you moar motivashun! Seriously, if you need some cheerleading, or some encouragement, just give me a call. I'm struggling with it myself, as you know, and mostly winning, so I can give some pointers possibly. If we didn't live so far apart, I'd just get you over here to use our treadmill. Lija and I use it every day during the week, giving ourselves the weekend, sick days, and holidays off. Sort of like a job. We don't persuade ourselves that it is ever going to be anything we truly enjoy, but that it is something that must become a part of our lives, just like brushing our teeth and taking a shower. Also, another thing I've found works for me, is to start out with a ridiculously short amount of time, like 5 minutes and gradually day by day add a minute to the amount of time you exercise. Pretty soon you're up to 10, 15, 20 mins. Without really noticing even.

Anyway, not in anyway pretending it's easy, just a few things that we've found work for us.

Oh, and of course I realize you don't have a treadmill, but an inside mall will do, or some other indoor arena, at least during the winter. Or you can find a bit of money to join a gym or hit the YMCA, even.

Walking used to be my exercise of choice, but these days the sciatica curtails my walks. Some days are better than others, and brisk walks aren't usually as bad as merely standing around or shuffling along. But still. Maybe I'll try bicycling, come spring.

Well, there's always water aerobics or swimming. That decreases the impact on joints, etc. But it also means finding a bathing suit that you would be caught dead in, not always an easy task.

Yes, the dreaded bathing suit. Still, swimming is defintely a physically feasible option.

Yes! I suggested in a comment to kjpepper that we go to the Eric Carle Museum this Saturday. (The Spiderwick exhibit is there through the end of January.) I thought maybe we could get a group together. Except for this possible outing and Sunday's game, my weekend is open. How about yours? If not, maybe we can get together another time. I haven't come out to visit you in a while. I should come beat scritch the boy-squidjees soon!

*hug*

Yes, that sounds really fun! Since geoclac plays in an RPG on Wednesday nights, I'm usually free. Drop me an e-mail with possible dates! :D

Hope all is well with you and yours!
