Destiny to guide her little children

As my Evil Landlord points out, today's Order of the Stick (#253) is a particularly entertaining and rather rude Harry Potter rip-off. I always knew Dumbledore was a warthog.

I'm really glad to see Nale and the Linear Guild again. I rather enjoyed their previous appearance. Can't comment on 'Larry Gardener' (snicker), although I guess there's nothing like working in Exclusive Books for the release of books 1 through 3 to want to take an axe to his fans. Your good self excluded, of course ;-)

Thank you for that exclusion ;>. It's a very acute Potter-diss on the narrative level, and one with which I agree heartily. HP is amazing if only because it's possible to be fully invested in the world and characters while still stoutly maintaining that Rowling writes like a drunken two-bit hack.

I saw the subject line of this post and immediately thought of Beyonce Knowles, lead singer of Destiny's Child. Was this a veiled reference to the international pop sensation?

And totally off-topic, can you provide careful instructions for creating your delicious gluhwein? I have a Xmas party to attend at the weekend and have been asked to help with drinks... :)

Pshaw! Beyonce's group name is clearly a reference to a more obscure bit of the well-known Omar Khayyam.

Gluhwein... hmmm, tricky, since that's traditionally the Evil Landlord's province; I can give you vague and general directions, not careful and specific. How 'bout I mail you his e-mail address and you can ask him for the lowdown?

Possibly you're right. I won't bother searching for ancient Arabic poetry in her biggest single "Crazy In Love" though.

That would be marvellous, thankee you...

Oops. OK, this works better if I actually have your e-mail address, which in fact I don't seem to. Please mail me at extemporanea (have paid account) and I'll mail you Evil Landlord's address so you can mail him to mail you the gluhwein instructions.

The Internet. It's all about communication. Eventually.
