Saw Force Awakens yesterday. Three things. Non-spoilery things.

  1. That was Star Wars. That felt like Star Wars. That was, in fact, so much like Star Wars it was almost comical. Been dying to hear your thoughts on this, we saw it last week. I definitely agree about the nostalgic (and very well done!) nod to the original trilogy. I also think the way to a new era has been opened by That One Scene. (Even though I had to clean my glasses afterwards. More than once.) I have high hopes for what comes next.

That One Scene was horrible, and inevitable, I spent the whole build-up mentally going "Noooooo! not going to work! going to go horribly wrong!", which of course it did. But in a narratively satisfying way, at least.

That a capella arrangement kicks butt, it's beautifully done; the cast are endearing (and have good voices! Gwendoline Christie's contralto does it for me) and the professional singers are ace. If I still did SCA I would totes have made Belladonna sing it.
