The two Egyptian geese who spend a lot of their time posing on the chimney of the residence opposite my office window are clearly a couple. This morning they've been rootling around in the res garden with a whole outbreak of baby goslings. It's ridiculously cute, although possibly unwarrantedly early. The weather has been unseasonably warm in the ( Read more... )

They are indeed lovely and suit you very well, good job Jo! (Elfling says: "booful rings"; I concur.) Re eyes: why fight it? Beady eyes, yes yes yes. :)

I am amused by the level of support for beady wol eyes. And the degree of beauty of the gloves clearly called for beautiful rings. May I additionally compliment your daughter on her excellent taste? I'm fond of those rings.

Please feel free to embellish with beads. The original pattern calls for beads as eyes but I couldn't find the right beads and didn't know how bling you'd want them.

I am slightly surprised to discover that I am entirely at one with the notion of bling-encrusted owls. (Which, for some reason, I typed as "bling-encrusted elves", which is somewhat different and far more tacky. It's early and I haven't yet finished my first cup of tea).

I am delighted to learn that the pattern suggested beads, it makes it seem like a less sacrilegious addition to a beautiful artifact, which is really what's been holding me back. Dammit, "sacrilegious" looks wrong however you spell it. I think that's right.

No, you have a big brain that has much more important things to think about than self timers. At least now you will not have to do that again!

Okay, so not only do I covet the gloves themselves, but I am quivering on the edge of flying to South Africa to swipe one of the rings from your finger.

Where did you get the leaf one on your left forefinger, and how can I obtain one?! (The Nenya tracer band, http://www.badalijewelry.com/nenya4.htm, has been on my wish list for years, to no avail. But I think yours is even prettier.)

The leaf and the wave ring came from Naga, which was a shop run in Cape Town by my dear friends jo&stv - they imported stuff from Thailand, and most of my jewellery comes from there. They have, alas, closed the shop in the last couple of years and are no longer importing, so I have no idea how you might source one. I'll ask them; the supplier may sell online, perhaps.

Good luck with swiping it. I'd accept the attempt as a reason to get you guys out here again, but I'm very attached to that ring and it would be a tussle in which I'd be inclined to fight dirty ;>. However, I'll leave it to you in my will, if you like!
