As I mentioned yesterday, this dratted conference wanted a photo of me as well as a bio paragraph. Oh, and a topic, but I wasn't really worrying about that, I can cobble words together on the fly with a dashed sight more facility than that with which I can find a photo of myself I don't hate enough to actually disseminate. I don't have any decent, ( Read more... )

First one is characteristic "I hear what you say and laugh, yet am about to launch counter-argument" :P.

Second one: skirt envy! I have a bamboo/cotton scarf I must give you, it will match that skirt perfectly. I have too many scarves.

You know, I was looking at the first one when I put it up on Flickr, and thinking, "That must be an expression I use a lot when teaching: amused, yet clearly about to challenge the statement." I think you called it ;>.

I am always open to dodgy yarn offers, particularly bamboo.

Skirt envy indeed. A gorgeous photo all round. I do miss that very beautiful Cherished Institution. And yes, having the right people on hand for photos helps a bundle; I'm usually on hand to provide comic relief when Armin is enlisted to provide photographic services. Works a treat.

That's a really nice photo of you. When's the deadline to get some high falutin' text to the conference people?

Um, it was on Friday :>. Except that the nice organiser man says no rush, given that he approached me I have leeway. I did give them the bio, topic and pic on Sunday evening, so go me. You also called it, the main problem with the current version of the abstract is that it's insufficiently polysyllabic.

Lovely pics, both of them. I like the character of the first and the composition of the second.

Also, well done on the Glasgow conference thing! (Haven't said that yet due to insane busyness.)
