Arkle. Today has dawned on me in something of a sleep-deprived haze (again), this time as a result of spending a sizeable chunk of last night discussing Harry Potter with a seething horde of 8-to-15-year-olds. MTN Science Centre, Harry Potter Sleepover, me leading debate. Nice kids, actually - bright, articulate, scarily sussed on the books, and ( Read more... )

Nice call on the spiderman "with great power..."
Did love Ginny's wry comment about "some stupid, noble reason", though. I think I'm in love:
1) Redhead
2) Sharp, witty,clever
3) Fairly *ahem* liberated.

Negatives:

1)Well, she is 15...

Nothing much else to add, except that this one was so tight. Possibly better edited, as well as better written. I really liked Harry again, rather than wanting to slap him. This is a good thing in our main protagonist.

Oh, and the Lupin/YouKnowWho 'ship was never even on my horizon. Surprised me. But I'm not a big 'fic-er

I'd say it's a positive overall. The next one will be interesting, if a bit of a Maguffin hunt at first. Unless she drops us into it 3 Maguffins down, one to go, 10 years down the line, 3 scarred and cynical renegades in a world blasted by magic war, where the dead roam the streets...
wait, I feel a 'fic coming on. See ya

Indeed it was. Although, even given my general counter-red-head prejudices, I have to say that I always liked Ginny (some of the Ginny fics are very cool), and she's developing very nicely into a genuinely interesting character. More growing-uppage. And I rather like the McGuffin bit, too, N - things suddenly fall into place. Especially Book II :>.

And yet you role play red heads...

Is there a psychologist in the house?

This is fun. Dumbledore's death (for it was rumoured he bites it in the Half-Blood Prince - true?) as told by various authors, including HP Lovecraft, Stephen King and AA Milne. :)

Um, if Dumbledore really dies in H-BP, then that's a rather nasty spoiler :( I hope it's a red herring

wolverine_nun, who hasn't read it yet

Shall not tell you if it's true or not - agree with w-n about horrible spoilers, and am trying to keep them out of the blog. With heroic self-sacrifice, may I add :>. I'm dying to dissect some of the revelations. Maybe in a month or so, when my poor promiscuous copy has done the rounds.

The deaths in various literary styles are fun, although some of them are really not very good. Liked the Bridget Jones's diary one - mmmm, Hermione/Draco!
