hello, spaceboy

Quite the worst part about a full-time job - or, possibly the combination of full-time job with Sid and glandular wossnames - is that it renders me incapable of much over the weekends, as I veg out and gently recover sanity. This, alas, is not good for my research goals, or for the marking I should have been doing. Do I care? Not a whole lot, no ( Read more... )

Please, for the love of God, head over to that sign with some Tipex and a permanent marker. Someone has to.

I must admit to Tipex fantasies, but actually I'm deriving consolation from the detailed fantasy of someone, out back somewhere, piling the several copies of said poster into a heap, and setting fire to them. Of course there's an equal and opposite possibility that the departed monstrosity will any day now be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable, causing my head to explode.

and begs to be let in, despite the fact that there's a perfectly good open window two metres away down the wall. She is a cat of little brain.

The Cat of our House does the same thing. I am easily annoyed that my two roomies will get up, walk across the room, and let the cat in. :)

Me? I let her sit.
Thusly, I vex her as the Untrained Ape.

I get a bit narked when she sits outside and whinges, but this particular study-window behaviour is characterised by a frantic, plaintive expression rather than noise, and I find it sadly irresistible.

Then again, I also find it sadly irresistible when she stands outside the living room with her front paws on the windowsill, begging to be let in. Basically I'm a soft touch.

Leaves are happy on the ground. I* only kind of push them on to the flowerbeds, I don't rake. It seems to work :). Sorry you're so tired. That's crap.

Leaves are happy on the ground, but grass is not happy without sun, and electric gate is not happy when it has to push a mound of leaves out the way every time it tries to open. We have that huge, venerable and enthusiastic plane tree, remember? It produces more leaves than are actually possible by the laws of physics, and they literally become ankle-deep if you don't beat them back. Fortunately the nice gardener has resurfaced from his extended holiday, and promises to come back from the Transkei in a week or so, so all is not lost.

Do hope you find effective something to settle Sid soon.

I remember one autumn when the leaves on the plane trees here (Portsmouth, UK) turned gold on the trees. They then fell & lay for what seemed like several weeks like drifts of sunshine on the pavements. It was dry that autumn.

Does the perfectly serviceable open window let into your room?

If not, it's Not the Same.

It is an irresistable expression, I agree!
