I know I spend a lot of time fulminating about JK Rowling and her more or less dodgy writing abilities, but the fact remains, I've spent the last 24 hours bouncing about in happy expectation of the last Potter novel, largely unashamed to be acting like a fifteen-year-old girl. I thought it was OK; I would have preferred it if there was more resolution of cool existing plot threads (and more screentime for established characters) and less last-minute mcguffin. There were tantalising glimpses of stuff that could have been cool... which went nowhere. But *all* the books were like that.

Also, we never got definite confirmation that a certain individual's body was in fact dead. I expect a flurry of AU fanfiction from denialists; some of it had better be good. :D

The epilogue was totally unnecessary to vaguely sapient readers, but I suspect serves to hammer the whole "the end" point into the accountant types who'd like to bring you-know-who back for another lucrative round in a sequel.
