Journal [Entry 042] Housekeeping PSA

It would be appreciated if those residents of Sections One and Two who have suffered damage to their homes could exercise some patience while the maintenance crews carry out their work.

Keys to vacant and undamaged properties are available from Housekeeping Island, or you may utilise the Temporary Housing for new arrivals until repairs have been ( Read more... )

I have a few concerns, Mr. Justice.

- I am unsure as where to stay.
- How shall I go about applying for a position in the Residential section?

If you are presently unemployed, you are entitled to take up residence in the Temporary Housing area of Section One for up to three weeks. Thereafter, you will be assigned permanent accommodation according to your work.

If you wish to seek employment in Housekeeping, your best course would be to visit Housekeeping Island in person and speak to a supervisor. My understanding is that all three sections are currently hiring, due to recent events.

All locations should be marked on the map you were given when you arrived.

This information should have been provided to you when you arrived... I take it that you were given a map, and money, at the very least?

If anyone needs help fixing their house, I can help! Or try to, at least.

If you have skills in that area, the Supervisor of Maintenance would be glad to hear from you.

[ooc: Housekeeping has NPC supervisors so it's a bit of a handwavey thing in terms of getting a job there. Basically, if your character has some aptitude in their canon for any of the housekeeping roles, feel free to place a request on the employment post (linked from the FAQ) and handwave an interview etc. when it's approved. Mods will correct me if I am wrong there XD]

Well, I'm not sure I do, but any time anyone mentions mechanic-y things, I feel like I wanna volunteer, so why not?

[ooc: Housekeeping = the maintenance as well, right?]

I'm sure any skills you can offer would be most welcome - particularly at the moment.

[ooc TLDR: Yeah there is Housekeeping: Sanitation, Housekeeping: Residential and Housekeeping: Maintenance which are all separate sections.

Justice kinda does paperwork for Housekeeping as a whole (and Medical) at the moment until we get some more Filing Monkeys come into the Sphere (it's mainly for convenience as I can have him do PSAs and save mods the trouble) but the sections are separate so your charrie doesn't have to do all three XD

Just put her name down on the appropriate part of the Employment Post if you fancy that - she can have up to two jobs so that still leaves her free to hook up as a scavenger or adventurer or such as well!]

Section three housing is mostly undamaged, but I understand that debris entered some houses through broken windows. There is a crew on clean-up duty of the interiors - I suggest that you join them.

Ah, back to the usual grind. I did miss it but there's some damage to the clinic. I guess its to be expected with how many people pass through there.

The Hall of Beginnings, Clinic and Marketplace will be our next priority.

...I hope there were no injuries sustained in the return from the Wilderness... or from this latest round of foolishness.

Given the circumstances of housing, don't worry about devoting most of your attention to it right now. Everything's moved back and under control at Medical, so we're doing all right.

How did your own home fare?

I understand from Cross there was some damage to the clinic - I will request that a crew is diverted to you as soon as the repairs to housing are complete.

As last time, most of the damage is in Sections One and Two - I think some consideration will have to be taken to strengthening the doors and windows next year, if this is to be an annual events.

My own home is undamaged, as is the bulk of Section Four. The only notable damage was to the interior of an empty building that appears to have been left unlocked.

It's fairly minor damage, luckily. I'm cleaning up between patients, and we don't have too many of those today.

I certainly hope it's not annual, but we have to be prepared. Perhaps it's some sort of migration.

Congratulations. At least some of us were lucky.

I heard there was an altercation at the elevator. I am glad that there were no serious injuries.

The same situation occurring at the same time of year for two years in succession does not bode well for the future.

Indeed. I suspect it is less luck and more that Sections Three and Four have large portions that are carved directly into the Tree. It seems to afford some natural protection.
