(NOT LOOKING AT SPOILERS LA LA LA OMG I'M SO BEHIIIIND /o\)
EEEE I'm so weirdly vicariously excited about your Dublin trip omg! I'm so happy that you get to go! Don't worry about us punks, we'll muddle along in your absence ;)
And good luck with all your lab-related work, bb. I totally understand needing to step back so you can really accomplish what you want to. It makes perfect sense ♥ *waves pompoms!*
You pretty much said it all. Oh show. You were not always tidy. But, so much love.
As for the shooting, I'm pretty sure that's a Southern thing (or a rural thing). I know it's seemed really incomprehensible to a lot of people, but lots of vets talk about doing it -- Winters, I believe, also talked about going bird shooting after the war and not being able to do it.
I think rewatchings will be a really interesting experience. I don't know how soon I want to relive Haldane again (D:) but I think the Basilone stuff will have a lot more resonance now that we know him better as a character. I kind of can't wait, honestly. And maybe there will be some interesting stories that come out of warbigbang! In short, yes, so much love, and I'm glad of that.
That's the conclusion I came to - I mean, I just don't know people who go hunting recreationally, so it's a completely foreign mindset to me, but I can understand why it was something Eugene's father had looked forward to - a bonding experience with his son over an activity they used to share (I assume). I think it must have been a horrible shock for him to realize what he had done to his son - at least he just held him and didn't question what was going on.
