How fucked are you now?

I'm quite scared of the prevailing wind in our country at the moment. It can't lead anywhere good, and I honestly don't know what it will take to stop the trend towards catastrophic violence. Just this weekend, the FBI carried out raids practically in my own back yard on a Christian militia group that was selling pipe bombs and plotting to kill lawRead more... )

Jeeeeeesus, that NYT article just made my blood run cold, but it's totally on the nose. I mean, no, the Healthcare bill isn't perfect, so some protest is completely valid and understandable. But this, the majority of what's going on right now, it's just so BLATANTLY a hysterical reaction to the zomg scary blacks/gays/latinos/wimminz/your minority of choice etc. It's terrifying, that all that "put-a-placating-smile-on-your-homophobia/racism/misogyny-to-show-how-TOLERANT-we-are" rhetoric is now being tossed by the wayside completely so that people can be FLAMING NUTBALL TERRORISTS WHAT THE FUCK.

It makes me feel so fucking scared for all of you guys in the States while I'm sitting here comfortably in Canada :/

I agree, one of the scariest parts is that there's not even a PRETENSE of civility anymore. There's spitting and racial epithets and bricks thrown and stalking peoples' houses and WHAT THE FUCK SINCE WHEN IS THIS OKAY IN A DEMOCRACY?!? *cliiings*

Er, that's what you're surprised about? Most of the nutjobs right now are declaring their hatred in the name of Christ. God decrees that all people not white or straight should be smote from this earth. Didn't you hear?

Christian fundamentalism is one of the most insidious infections this country suffers from.

Christian fundamentalism is a problem the world over *shudders* I'm just happy that it doesn't seem to have very deep roots where I am.

I'm actually really scared for some of the senators, not to mention Obama. A lot of conservatives are going batshit insane, and it seems to be escalating like crazy.
