And it seems I forgot how to smile

I haven't been posting pretty much at all, and it's really unfortunate. Kind of a bad side effect of Twitter - I already feel like i've talked about myself enough every day, I don't really feel the pressing need to make a blog post. But I know LJ is so much more lasting and coherent than Twitter updates, so I'm going to force myself to make a long ( Read more... )

CAAAAAAAAAAAAARS!

Yup. That is about as intelligible as I get when you put things with four wheels and excessively large engines in front of me.

I have a Mazda 3 hatchback and I LOVE MY CAR. Like, an obscene amount. It's been wonderful and reliable, has the perfect amount of cargo space (my friends refer to it as the clown car because we can fit SO MUCH into it), it's zippy and cute and yes. I highly recommend it!! :D

Awwww, YAY!! That's great to hear a first-hand owner's account! I'm definitely leaning towards the hatchback for cargo purposes, and it's super cute to boot! What color do you have? :D

Mine is RED and the paint has glitter in it, so it's bee-yoo-tiful in the sun. My niece told me I had a very sparkly car, and she liked it very much. (She told me this when she was four.)

I bought mine the first model year they were out, so it's over five years old and I've never had to fix ANYTHING. Only normal maintenance and a new battery. Never broken down on me or failed to start (except when the battery needed replacing), even when it's cold or hasn't been driven in a week or two, like when I'm out of town.

The cargo space is great. I carried home bookshelves from IKEA in it last week, with the backseat folded down.

But yes, I cannot recommend it more highly. I ♥ my car. :D

Aww, that's fantastic! \o/ Now I'm totally itching to buy my own, haha. Buuut I'm afraid that's a ways off because right now I'm saving my money for Dublin. I'm comfortable with that though. ;)

That Challenger... wow. That's a FABULOUS color. And... science! \o/ I'm so so thrilled that it looks like you're going to be able to join Jason's lab, and that you're thrilled to be joining his lab. (Plus, you know, it gives me great hope for myself, that you were kind of ambivalent about grad school and wound up in this fabulous place really enjoying yourself.) Things I don't understand: why they have grad students rotate in places they definitely can't join. Isn't the whole point to be checking out prospective labs? Do not understand.

Haha, yes! The purple's amazing. I think the Challenger looks fantastic from the front, but the rear end is kind of a let down. It is awesome though.

Science! \o/ Thank you darling :D We really should have that chat about grad school because I think you're feeling the same way I was in some ways and I'd love to pass on my experiences!

As for rotating somewhere I can't join, that was actually an accident... I agreed to rotate with Zaneta, then a friend mentioned she wasn't taking thesis students and I was like o.O what?? So I asked Zaneta, and she was like oh yeah I don't really have the funding. And I was like O.O you didn't think to tell me this earlier?!?? But unfortunately she was kind of the only person other than Jason I really wanted to rotate with, so I just said eff it, I'll do it for the experience and hang all my hopes on Jason. Maybe stupid, but if I don't get in to Jason's lab (knock on wood!!) I can rotate in a third lab this summer.
