So, I think in the grand scheme of things... we're good, aren't we?

Guess what I did last night? I beat the mayor of Lancaster, PA at poker! It was incredibly surreal. Oxfam held a Charity Game Night Gala to raise money, and we asked the mayor to come! His secretary said "he would try," so I was like, pffft... yeah right. And then he was THERE. I wish there had been a better turn out to the event to be a bit more ( Read more... )

That is pretty awesome.

Hmm. I was thinking about picking up the second season companion. I might have to now that someone on my flist likes it. Epiphany was supposed to be a McKay and Sheppard story? It makes me so sad that it wasn't.

Everyone gets busy, it's understandable. I always feel guilty when I don't have time to keep up with my flist too.

It's not like a revelatory book or anything, but it is quite fun. I've noticed that all actors use the word "interesting" far too much, though - it's what they say when they've got nothing to say, lol. But it's reasonably cheap (I got it off Amazon) and hey, why not, yaknow? I need something to carry me over to season 4!

I know, I'm now quite bitter about what Epiphany could have been! However, it does make me happy that Joe WANTED to write a McKay and Sheppard story. N'awww, he wuvs working with his David! Hee. They're too cute.

Silly real life :(

*hugs back* Oooh, I should look through the Local & State section of today's Patriot-News (do y'all get the Patriot up in Lancaster?) to see if you're in it! I mean, if the mayor was there... *grin* Congratulations, hehe.

*hugs*

The SPN hiatus needs to be over immediately. I still have not recovered from "Heart." I may never recover from "Heart." I need new episodes.

Out of curiosity, did Joe say which two SG-1 episodes it was too much like? Just wondering what the gist of the story would have been had he been able to write it but I can't tell if he's talking about it being too close to a plot for a two-parter in SG-1 or perhaps too close to covering a similar kind of relationship bonding that happened between two of the SG-1 characters.

They do say, yes. Season one's "The First Commandment" and season 8's "It's Good To Be King". They also say it's "along the lines of The Man Who Would Be King", which, er, I'm assuming must be a movie or a book or something that I haven't read or seen. Hope that helps :) And I'd appreciate if you could explain to me what those eps have in similar, so I could know what Joe wanted to write about McKay and Sheppard, that would be cool :)

Heee, go Anne! :D

It's kinda funny, cause Epiphany was very much like an SG-1 episode called A Hundred Days. Awww, how adorable is Joe for wanting to write that?

I've been terrible with keeping up with flist myself lately... And I never seem to update anymore, it's weird.

I'm not surprised there's a lot of crossover of ideas. I mean, sci-fi only has so many tropes, and it's impossible to get infinite variation out of them. I bet it's fun to see the comparisons! Like I told the person above me, they compared Joe's original idea to season one's "The First Commandment" and season 8's "It's Good To Be King". What were those episodes like? Would it have been an epicly slashy episode? Hee. But yes, SO CUTE. *draws hearts around Joe*

You don't! It makes me sad. *clings to you*

If you ever do manage to watch all of SG-1 (I really hope you do, I finished making the DVDs for you the other day and I'm just waiting for the holiday to be over so I can mail them!) you'll see just HOW many similar episodes/ideas both these shows have. But yeah, it's understandable.

The fact that it took me a couple of minutes to be reminded of what was actually in those episodes shows that they weren't all that slashy. Cause I remember those VERY well. :D Heee, one of those episodes featured one of those time traveling puddle jumpers though.

I'm trying to post when I can, I just have nothing to post ABOUT lately! :D
