It's an optional thing - you can sign up for it or not. Which is why I'm wondering what it is, and whether I should do it!

I'd say if you can do it, do it. It'll give you a chance to get used to the whole thing befor e it 'starts counting' i.e. being graded.

I'm guessing it's a settling-in sort of thing? Probably just by university, though, seeing as UCL doesn't have one that I know of. But I have no idea, really!

The best part about being in Dublin will be Ryanair. Every weekend for less than US100 youll be able to fly to your favorite part of europe

Bonus: The best time to book is 2-4 weeks before. Thats when cheapest.
