In 1896, on the eve of his execution, Dr. Jose Rizal penned his last poem before facing the firing squad. Many believe his writing to have ignited the revolution against the Spanish colonizers. Shortly after his death, the new colonizers from America have declared him a national hero.

Very interesting. I tried reading it in Filipino, but alas, some words escape me.

I still prefer it in Spanish though as that's how I learned it, but I do understand why people would prefer it in Filipino or English.

The English version, I think, is weak. I prefer the Filipino version as that's what I understand most. No abla Espanyol, me. Except possibly for the word Sinverguenza, but I don't know what it means either, I just remember what it sounds like.

Splendid translation! What accuracy! What drama! And mind you, having this poem in LOLcat not only makes this poem more accessible to Filipinos in cyberspace but pretty much anyone THAT IS EVERYONE in cyberspace. =D
