A Retraction

Wow, what a response to yesterday's meme post. Let me say the following about that:
1) Of course, I do still believe in gay rights.
2) It was wrong of me to propogate that meme.

The meme appeared on a friends journal in the middle of a very period at work and I thought "hey, that's a meme I can actually get behind". Problem being is that it does ( Read more... )

I didn't read it that way (i.e. bullying and intolerant) when I posted it.
I just assumed that friends who didn't post it would have skimmed LJ or missed it anyway. Sorry if I inadvertently got you in trouble...

Certainly not your fault, so no worries.
And yes, I agree, that there's nothing directly inflammatory in it, but several valid points have been raised... so, in the interest of keeping the peace, ya know.

It's very big of you to post your retraction. I don't think, however, that it was wrong to post the original.

You already know my thoughts on the way it was worded in particular,

but I also want to say that if we never said things that other people found offensive, there would never be any progress in the world.

You can post it, we can complain about it. lol

Oh, I'm all for being offensive. I just don't like to be clumsy about it.

When I say something provacative on purpose, that's something compleletly different.
