Ah, and now it's your turn to raise questions of morality, is it, Kimblee-san?

Always. Consider it a fascination of mine - after all, as much as the ends may justify the means, that doesn't imply the means aren't an interesting topic of discussion.

In that case, it's the least I can do to oblige you with an answer to your question - and I'd argue it's ultimately an issue of moderation. Absent any great desire to 'catch them all' simply for the sake of boasting a full set, I'm of the opinion that if a trainer is judicious in how he acquires his Pokemon, then he may never have to ask himself your question in the first place.

A fair point, really, and one that I find I have no argument with - however, I do have my doubts that most in this place would be nearly so judicious upon finding themselves surrounded by creatures that can spit fire, among other things.

Nothing forces a trainer to capture every creature he subdues. But of course, some people are more swayed by the prospect of a gaining a cute Pokemon than whether or not their addition would be truly helpful to a team.

At which point it becomes a matter of exactly what end the trainer in question is trying to achieve, I suppose - after all, I'd imagine one that's strictly battle-oriented would be less prone to engaging in behaviors like that than someone who, for example, is perfectly content running a flower shop and trying to live their lives as normally as possible since arriving here.

I'm all for trying to live as normally as possible despite the circumstances, but there IS a difference between attempting normalcy and willfully turning a blind eye to the realities of our situation.

And might I ask how you perceive these realities?

This is a world filled with wild monsters of varying levels of destructive capability. To choose not to train a team of your own, if for nothing else than personal defense, is fairly asking for trouble.

Well, I certainly won't disagree with you on any of that - and might I ask what you make of how we've come to be in this situation to begin with? I've found there to be very few answers available in that regard.

At the moment, my most educated guess is that someone with a great deal of power has a rather unfortunate sense of humor.
