Last time, Truman had entered his world, he had left Sylvia behind. And there was a growing crowd screaming his name. Now the alleyway looked quiet and deserted in the nighttime air. They step through and take their first breath of free air. Aphelise looks around them, his fingers still intertwined with those of Gruoch. "We'll run if we need to," he says. "Where are we, exactly?"

Truman remarked, still glancing around worriedly, "Los Angeles, California. I don't know where we are specifically. I haven't had much chance to walk around since I got out, you know? Just seen a little bit of it so far."

In many ways, he was almost as much an alien to this world as them, and yet not.

Fresh air.

New, unknown, untasted air, of her own choosing. Gruoch stands ramrod straight, and it is not entirely an act.

An unexplored country, theirs for the taking. She licks dry lips, and drinks it in.

"There must be many things to see," he says, moving a step towards where the alley opens into a street. "I have never been to Los Angeles, and only know it's where a lot of movies come from," he grins, a little wryly. A lie, but no one is counting.

"What shall we see first?" He sounds excited, putting an arm around Gruoch's waist and holding her close.
