I wanted to promote some discussion between Bleach fans, in particular Ichigo/Orihime and Ichigo/Rukia shippers. As someone who enthusiastically ships Ichigo/Orihime, but still loves Rukia to pieces, and Renji too while we’re here, I wanted to try to take a rational look at the relationship between the three, and also how Renji factors into it. I think that people that see Ichigo as a reincarnation of Kaien see it as proof of Rukia's feelings for him, However, I think that that statement is dependent on the fact that Rukia was romantically interested in Kaien. However, as you said, I see Kaien as more of a mentor than a romantic partner, after all, the guy was married, and to a woman that Rukia deeply respected. And I agree, that Rukia is mentoring Ichigo is much the same way that Kaien mentored her.
