[There's a long pause, before a young boy's voice strangely calm. He's unnerved, definitely, but determined not to show it.]

Excuse me, miss? Surely you can't really mean actual zombies?

[Her tone is cool, but there is a certain edge of weariness there. Yeah, if she had a choice, she wouldn't want to come home from groceries to see her drone husband and son as raving flesh-hungry heresies. At least Mami and Misha are fine; Mami can take care of herself too, that Ciel had complete faith in and took relief in knowing.]

The ones I've met moved sluggishly and possessed little intelligence. Their flesh is decaying and they seek to devour others. I've witnessed this done by a drone zombie to an ordinary drone: victims begin to show symptoms shortly after being bitten on the shoulder. Would you call these beings 'zombies'?

But... zombies aren't real.

[It sounds stupid as he says it, a child's denial of the monster under the bed, and he feels a fool as soon as the words have left his lips.]

It shouldn't have been possible for any of us to be taken here in this town against our will. We should not have been stripped of everything, and death should not be temporary. A lot of things that normally aren't supposed to ever happen are usual occurrences here. Mayfield's very nature requires us to constantly suspend our sense of disbelief if we wish to survive - you must remain flexible with your environment.

[A small sigh.]

Does your street still look calm and ordinary? If that is the case, then they must still not have reached you yet. Please arm yourself and stay alert; there's no telling when they will begin to appear.
