If you don't have a degree, getting a work VISA is really really really hard. Its not a corporate policy problem as much as a government problem as I understand it.

When I had my interview with NOVA they told us that for the type of work visa we had to get to teach English in Japan we need a four year degree. I think it just has to do with the type of work visa that they use for teachers and teachers' assistants.
