I don't have seasonal allergies, but I've heard that they can be cured with regular use of a neti pot. I got this one from Amazon.jp and I love it. Just be sure to use filtered or boiled water, not regular tap water.

I'm a little confused, could you explain how the teapot works?@_@ (other than being a teapot^^)

It's not a teapot, it's a sinus rinse.
You can get something less pottish at Japanse drug stores. My husband uses HANANOA http://www.hananoa.jp/
My friend said these plus a mask made a huge difference for her http://bio-pit.com/ It's a little filter you shove up your nostrils!

I don't think it is available OTC, but you can get medicine containing Loratadine (the active ingredient in Claritin).

My husband has terrible allergies (he was out of commission about 6 months out of the year), and he ended up getting a procedure where they seared the inside of his nose. He said it hurt like hell the first couple of days, but since he had it done 3 years ago it has been the difference between night and day.

wow, was it covered by national health insurance?

It was called 'laser' (レーザ ), and not covered by insurance, but he swears by it.

The doctor might give you something that will hopefully dry up your nose (well, as much as possible.) Mine did, and it was of limited use, but it did help for while I was outside. Still sneezing, still stuffy, but OH SO MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE.
