I need help figuring out what floor cleaning products I need to get. My living area is hardwood so that's easy, but in the kitchen/bathroom area, there is a different kind of flooring and I have no idea what it's called...and thus don't know what type of cleaner I need to get ( Read more... )

Can't see the texture too clearly in the photos. Is it flat and smooth? Cause it looks kinda ridgey in the first pic. Does it feel like linoleum?

It's ridgety - the little round parts are raised.

Looks like some sort of plasticized rubber. If it's linoleum, then just treat it as you would linoleum (I'm afraid I don't have any experience with lino). Otherwise, anything that works on smooth floors should work on those. When in doubt, just use an all-purpose general cleaner.

Tough on stains--anything marketed as orange cleaning products (with pictures of a citrus or something on it) usually works for congealed food, oil, things like that. Otherwise... you have to be more specific. Where is the stain, and what caused it?

I may be wrong, but isn't linoleum smooth? This is really textured - those are raised bumps in the second picture.

The stain is from one of my grocery bags - it's blue, and I guess the bottom was wet...and now there's a big, blue, circular stain on the floor D:

I did say I have no experience with lino. ^_^

If the bumps give way (can you press it down with your fingernail?) then it's rubberized, and you should just use an all-purpose cleaner ie. soap and don't use anything that has solvents in it. Otherwise, you can safely assume it is one of the many variations of plastic flooring available, and clean it like you would a unit bath. I would go with the all-purpose cleaner when in doubt.
