If you're working part time and earning money, there must be _some_ paperwork your employer can give you. Anything you can get from that, with the two contracts. Fill out the paperwork best you can, and if it bounces back they'll tell you what you need for a successful application.
I started parttime eikaiwa in February, so I can show them the bank statements from that. And I can explain that I COULDN'T work full time, as I was on a Working Holiday Visa, but I have two contracts promising me work for a year... I'm just worried as this is Japan, and they're not exactly logical in matters like that. That, and I was linked to this (http://forum.gaijinpot.com/showthread.php?31370-self-sponsorship-visa) which seems to say I can't go from Wa-Holi to Self-Sponsorship, only from a Working Visa... Did you apply and have it sent back to you? How long did it take? :) Thanks for your help!
My situation was different, I'm afraid. We were doing Humanities paperwork for a non-profit school (Kindergarten) but they expected us to list profits on the application... it bounced back and took a few phone calls to assure them that we didn't have the info they wanted. The visa went through after that.
By the way, if one of your jobs is eikaiwa, the ¥250,000/month minimum doesn't necessarily apply. The salary at my school is ¥140,000 and we got the Humanities visa anyway. If your other job isn't coverable by the Humanities visa, then I dunno.
One is eikaiwa, the other is translating a website for a company... Together I should get 20,000. The trouble is it seems I can't get it from a wa-holi? ^^ Thank you so much for all the information! :)
Keep in mind that when changing visa types, during the time that your visa is in process and after your current has run out, you are not allowed to work. Last year, that's what happened to me-- mine ran out while the new one was processing, and the new one didn't go through for two months, and they told me that during that time it would be illegal to work. If you're set on doing things legally, I'd suggest HURRY, because for self-sponsored visas they seem to be really strict. I had to go back four or five times to bring new paperwork that originally wasn't even listed!
Really!? I read this link (http://forum.gaijinpot.com/showthread.php?31370-self-sponsorship-visa) that seems to imply I can't go from a Wa-Holi to Self-Sponsorship anyway, only from a Working Visa... I can explain I was on a Wa-Holi so COULDN'T work fulltime, but have two contracts promising me work, but I don't know if they'll accept it. I could also maybe get one to sponsor me, just so it's done through them, and have the other contract to prove I'll have enough work? I don't know if that helps... After my visa runs out, can I stay in the country for 3 months though on a tourist visa while working things out? I'm having these images of being deported at the end of the month.
If I can't self-sponsor but CAN stay in Japan on a tourist visa, I'll just search for fulltime work instead, I just really like the place I'm at at the moment.
Thank you so much for your help! It's all so confusing ^^;
