When you move to Tokyo can I come live with you? I mean, if my wife doesn't mind... j/k I LOVE that area (especially Mitaka) and miss it greatly.

I rather liked that area too, when I lived there. Though my favorite was Kichijoji :) There was something about all the small little shops hidden in corners of that town that I really liked.

I can't help you with the rent, but you can get some information on ticket prices for JR and Tokyo Metro at the following links:

http://www.tokyometro.jp/global/en/ticket/index.html

I don't think you can look up specific places, but it might help you at least get some idea. Good luck! :)

I know someone who lives in a 2LDK in Kichijoji for 75000 yen per month. I'm not sure if that's average or not.

To go from musashisakai to Shinjuku is close to 400 something yen.

The bus tickets are around 210 yen per ride.

Whoa!! That is really, really cheap!!! :O Do they live far from the station?

I looked for apartments in Kichijoji/Mitaka last year (before settling on a house 15 min from station) and prices for a 2LDK generally hovered between 150,000 and 180,000 (too rich for me)!

I'm going to be looking for a 2LDK in the same area next year, I hope that I can find something for 75000 or less! :O I would be really lucky!

Yeah, there were a few problems with his apartment. So that's probably why it was so cheap now that I think about it.

For ticket checking, try hyperdia.com I live in Kobe so I can't help with the apartment, but good luck!

I am also looking for a place to live. I have been told that レオパレス is an awesome site. The rent is sometimes a little high, but no key money.
