Your friend wasn't keen on the idea of sticking around to find another job? The market for English teachers is obviously a little flooded but surely it's still possible to pick up teaching work?

There's heaps of discussion on the situation on various Nova-related Facebook groups, just in case anyone's interested. Fairly up-to-the-hour stuff on what people are experiencing in terms of payments/evictions/etc.

That's true, especially in a big(ger) city, while the transition can be a bit hairy 'n' scary depending on your route (ft/pt), making your own schedule and finding a new job can actually be quite liberating, doable and easy. There's always someone looking for a teacher, and teachers are always bailing their jobs. There are a wealth of job sites and often one can pick up work on a dime, start tomorrow. Too bad he's giving up. It's not as hard as he might think!

I agree with neuromance. The market is flooded with people from Nova jumping ship. Competition for teaching jobs is pretty fierce.

I work in a junior high and one of my students was really sad because her Nova is closing. She'll have to go to another Nova in a city farther away now. The whole situation sucks all around...

I feel so sorry for you guys that are still working there today because it looks like you aren't going to get paid next month (right now might be a good time to toppatsu permanently). I feel even worse for the newbies on OJT with no idea about what they are getting themselves into. They are going to basically volunteer for a few weeks and then have no paycheck and no place to live in October.

As for the people at the top (especially YOU Sahashi, you freak), they can eat a huge bag of dicks! That's what you get for ripping people off! Karma's a bitch, ain't it?!
