I'm teaching some Japanese teenagers right now and they're really great students. It's hard to base anything on a few weeks of teaching one group of Japanese, but if other Japanese students are like these it would be a great job.

I'm in California (where I was born) for the summer. I liked in Lithuania last year, Slovakia the year before and am off to Kazakhstan in three weeks to spend a year there.

People ask me if I intend to settle down here (Malaysia). It always stops me in my tracks. The word "settle down" petrifies me. People find that odd but I am not particularly sure how to explain it! I haven't found "home" yet. I have come to be comfortable saying, "I am from India" but when they say where in India I am often still confused. ^_^

I am Indian born raised in Italy, Singapore and Hawai'i, now in Malaysia.

is that what you plan to do , Alex? What if "home" begins to be in many places - like in all places where you have friends? I sometimes feel that I would need to start the rounds all over again to keep up with "home"...I've been away from my country for 18 years now. I am still not sure where (if!) I'll settle. The thing about "planning for the rest of our life" is that we haven'
t got the foggiest how long that is going to be. So we may as well enjoy it right now. Carry on having fun!

Russia and the UK are enough for me...but i plan to do more travelling sometime soon. But, in theory i do believe that "home" is everywhere - it's a collection of things and people which makes us feel comfortable and happy...where we have peace of mind a lot of the time. I have a lot of friends who've lived in Sheffield, England all their lives...and they'd never consider living somewhere else for any period of time...we're different in that way - they react to the word "Russia!" with raised eyebrows and questioning looks. Funny. But, why not Russia?!
=D
