i know this is more of an immigration questions, but is anyone here a u.s. citizen married to a foreigner and completed the i.n.s. procedure? my wife and i have our initial interview for her green card, and we don't think we're going to do it as we don't really want to leave poland. although i was told that if we do not go to this interview ( Read more... )

I recommend you do the interview and get all the necessary official Green Card paperwork done. The INS never was friendly to foreigners (and yes, that's and UNDERSTATEMENT!!!) and now it has only gotten worse. They do not care what your personal circumstances are -- if you do not play by their rules, they can do with you as they please.

I agree with the others...why not just do the interview, it's not a big deal, and then it'll be on file if you want to continue the green card process in the future. I just went through it with my husband here in Serbia even though we aren't planning to go to live in the U.S. anytime in the near future. We were told that our info will be on file with the U.S. embassy here so we can pick up where we left off when we are closer to the time we'll go to the U.S.

But I guess your main question was about the 'black mark.' What the others said made sense though I personally don't know what it means.
