Since we have extra-special guests at the moment, I wanted to make them an extra-special lunch. We all went down to the market, as I think markets are one of the keys to understanding a city and a culture. We picked up a number of things, but for the moment I'll just talk about the burrata ( Read more... )

I don't live there and I do like Italy. If that's all I could come up with that I didn't like, it's a pretty good place.

My list for England is much longer.

In all seriousness, this country has only two faults in my mind: the air quality and the driving culture (or lack thereof).

But ah the burrata. And now the furniture (see my journal)

he he...agree with you... we still have some of the Italian furniture we brought from Italy, they are 12-14 years old now! I remember when we first moved to Rome, we were umm appalled at the antique old looking furniture! he hehe... but three years converted us... ;)

The bureaucracy is desperately in need of being brought into the 21st century, though I would settle for the later part of the 20th century. I couldn't believe the BS and the waiting it took to get my permesso di sogiourno. I remember hearing a statistic about how long the average Italian stood waiting in line each year.

Oh and I forgot one more fault. The Fiat Multipla. Italy has designed some of the most beautiful cars in the world. Ever. What went wrong with the Multipla?
