Hello Everyone,
My name is Erica. I'm originally from New Orleans,Louisiana but I live in Tours,France now. I moved here about 2 years ago to be an au pair (nanny) but ended up falling in love with a Frenchman and now I'm an English teacher at Wall Street Institute. I'm glad I found this community. Hope to see many interesting posts!

There are over 450 WSI around the world and there are about 45 in France itself!

out of curiosity, over there, what kind of qualifications does one need to become-
1. an au pair
2. an english teacher?

To become an au pair, you need to first find an au pair agency. There are tons on the internet. Once you find a family in your country of choice, you usually exchange many emails and photos. You are responsible for paying for your plane ticket and language classes. The family ususally give you about 50-60 dollars a week to do 25 hours of work. The work includes housework and taking care of the kid(s). However, you better make it really clear with the family beforehand what they expect of you before you come. Otherwise, you could end up like me and a ton of other girls I know who were treated like a veritable MAID! and that's about it ( ... )
