The whole Tim/church thing was really awkward for me, I think because I wasn't sure if he was doing it because he honestly wanted to give it a shot or if he was just looking for a way to get closer to Lyla. During the closeups on his face at the church, I kept expecting him to laugh or make a snarky comment. So I'm still kinda on the fence about that one.
UGH JULIE THANK YOU. I've never liked her all that much, I didn't hate her last season but I had no great love for her, either. When Tami smacked her, I was SUPER PSYCHED. Idk, I think the show was trying to make Julie sympathetic this episode with her whole 'you left me when you had the baby' or whatever, but uh, she's like sixteen, right? Shouldn't she have gotten over the, "I'm the baby!" issues by now? Acting like that just makes her come off as totally spoiled.
I rewatched the shoulder massage scene like four times. :-x I don't like Carlotta, I really don't, I think her attitude sucks, but that shoulder massage scene had tons of chemistry.
The whole Tim/church thing made me uncomfortable - but in a good kind of way. Because church? Really? But I kept begging the writers to take this story line into a "Tim is just looking for a way to connect with anything - and right now 'anything' is Lyla". And yes. I liked the way they played. I think he WAS sincere in what he said to Lyla - even if it was a moronic move to say that out loud.
Landry and Tyra are so beautifully acted and written this season. I loved her ignoring him, but watching him at school. Then realizing just how great he is because of his dad's comments. Then that kiss. Eeep. It's killing me to know that the proverbial shit is going to have to hit the fan for them soon. *sigh*
Incidentally, I'm listening to Butch Walker right now - and it's one of those comment interests we've never discussed. Any chance you were a fan of Southgang back in the day? (What can I say - I was a hair metal fan in junior high!)
I did not really dig the Tim at church deal. I'm not big into church at all though, so it is possible that my prejudices cloud my judgement on that story line
