Saturday evening finds Wu Fan in his favorite bar downtown, between the jewelry store with questionably colorful stones and a condemned instrument store. The building is small and shoddy, neon sign of the bar’s name lighting with only half the characters and plastic covering one of the windows. No matter what time Wu fan comes in, it’s almost near empty inside, a few patrons in their stools slumped over the bar, some smoking up a dense cloud in the corner by the lopsided pool table. The poor attendance doesn’t bother the owner, who cleans the same glass for hours while watching repetitive soccer matches
