Person A lives in a world inhabited with giants. Person B is one such giant who catches him and convinces his parents to let him keep the "wild" human.

it's on the tenth day of camping out by the southern pond that sehun finally catches one. chanyeol hyung had found his by the western pond and camped for over a month, but the slightly warmer climate toward the south had sehun suspecting that he'd have better luck in a shorter amount of time. he had been right.

the hoomun sehun finds in his glass trap is tinier than chanyeol's and considerably less noisy. sehun has to squint, bringing his nose up against the transparent wall to actually see the creature's tiny features. when sehun does so, it scowls at him, shouting something in a high-pitched voice that sehun has trouble hearing.

vaguely, sehun wonders if this particular hoomun speaks the same language as he does. in the fifth grade, he'd learned about hoomuns and their many languages. giants were few in number, only having five languages amongst them, but hoomuns were different. and as sehun walks home, carefully balancing the glass trap so that his hoomun won't be jostled, he hopes that some kind of communication will be

sehun doesn't tell his parents right away. he slinks into the back entrance of their mountain home and yells that he's not hungry when his father calls him for dinner. at night, when his parents fall asleep, sehun sneaks out to the neighboring mountain to ask yifan hyung for help

somehow, sehun gets dragged to jongin's room. jongin's place is quite large and the hollowed out mountain home boasts more rooms than sehun's mountain. closing the flaps of his room, jongin pulls sehun close, staring intently at the hoomun's jar, still under sehun's clothes

the next day, sehun wakes up to his mother, towering over his bed. still bleary from sleep, sehun's confused. why does his mother look so stern so early in the morning? but then he hears another voice, saying, "uh-oh... hi mrs. oh" from the left of him. sehun wonders briefly why jongin is sleeping in his bed, but then remembers.

oh. oh.

the jar containing his hoomun is in his mother's hands.

"mother, i can explain" is the first thing out of sehun's mouth. his normally calm and apathetic expression crumbles because his cute little hoomun is making distressed noises from inside the container. pounding on the glass and wobbling every time his mother moves, sehun's little hoomun needshim.

"mom, just, can i have him back? just put my hoomun down okay?"

"your hoomun? oh sehun, since did i allow you to keep a hoomun

days later, equipped with a hoomun language dictionary and a tiny amplifying device borrowed from yifan hyung's father, sehun finally tries to communicate with his little hoomun. having named it xiumin temporarily, he giddily hopes to hear its voice before naming it permanently.

yifan's father had recommended that sehun be patient and quiet. whispering his words as softly as he can, sehun props the amplifier to his ear. next, he points at his chest slowly.

"my name is sehun" he breathes, watching with bated breath as the little hoomun inside widens its eyes.

after what seems like an eternity, the hoomun brings its tiny pink mouth to the other, tapered end of the amplifier. with a fisted hand pounding on its own little chest, the hoomun speaks.

"minseok" is the squeak that sehun deciphers. grinning broadly, sehun has to stop himself from clapping with glee.

"minseok" sehun repeats softly. and for the first time, sehun sees the minuscule white teeth of his hoomun.
