"May I see, may I see?"
Kyungsoo showed the picture to Jongin before taking a bite of churros dipped in sweet chocolate. He watched his boyfriend navigate through his phone and asked, "Are you posting it now?"
"Nope. Not yet. I'm using Grid App." Jongin said and took a sip of his strawberry milkshake. "Hyung," he suddenly scooted closer to Kyungsoo and draped his arm around his boyfriend's waist. Kyungsoo's phone was held up high for a selca. "Say kimchi!"
Kyungsoo complied, saying kimchi with Jongin and another photo was taken.
Five hours later, a post from 9493_journey, with compiled three by three photos from the churro shop they visited in downtown Seoul got 149 likes and 89 comments from their followers.
Jongin couldn't contain the elation and satisfaction he had that brought him scooping Kyungsoo while showing him the feedbacks and likes they got from their new post in their joint Instagram account.
"So, someone's suggesting we should try this coffee shop in Jamsil-dong next."
"Let's visit that coffee shop tomorrow then after my class."
"I'll pick you up."
"Sure."

“I don’t like this drink,” Jongin said in mild disgust, face scrunching up like paper, pertaining to his drink in hand.
“But I like it,” Kyungsoo said. He took a sip of the drink again and rolled his tongue inside his mouth to taste it carefully, so he could comprehend Jongin’s dislike on the drink. “It’s fine to me.”
Jongin put the glass of water on the table with a careful thud, brows knitting. “It tastes like coffee.”
Kyungsoo rolled his eyes and cackled. “I almost forgot, it’s toffee milk flavoured.”
Jongin was appalled. He scoffed. “Yah, how dare you buy something so poisonous like this, hyung? It’s not even healthy. Coffee isn’t healthy and it tastes like poison.”
A familiar music from Taylor Swift plays in the background.
We were both young when I first saw you...
Instead of defending himself from Jongin’s wrath, he gave his boyfriend a hard pinch on the cheek. “Just order a drink you prefer,” then he called the waiter and asked for the menu and shoved it to Jongin’s chest.
“Fine!” Jongin grumbled and flipped the menu to the drinks section. “Did you take a picture of your drink earlier?”
“Not yet,” Kyungsoo grinned and grabbed the glass of his coffee drink to finish it. “I guess I gotta order another drink. That’s just a trial.”
“Trial my ass.”
“Your ass has never been a trial, Jongin.” Kyungsoo winked and received a pinch on the cheek in retaliation from the younger man.

“I’ll bring you somewhere.”
This time, it was Kyungsoo who picked Jongin from his university.
“Don’t tell me we’re going to a coffee shop again?” Jongin deduced. He knew how much Kyungsoo loves coffee and they had been visiting different coffee shops in town these past few days, though it was a relief that their followers never get tired of seeing any coffee shop related post on their Instagram.
“This coffee shop suggested to me is one of a kind, so come on.” Kyungsoo linked arms with Jongin and he pulled him to the bus stop to get to their destination. It was so apparent how excited Kyungsoo was in this trip and Jongin couldn’t complain anymore, because excited Kyungsoo is his joy.
Now, they were surrounded by different colors and sizes of ukuleles decorated on the walls. They were greeted by the aroma of coffee being brewed and coffee that were served to a few customers, a faint smoke wafting the place with its distinct smell from the ordered coffee in mugs.
Jongin took a closer look on the interior of the place. Zooming out, the place could house fifty to sixty persons, based from Jongin's intuition. The ceiling was high adorned with huge fans whirring. The tables were made from mahogany, varnished transparently, and partnered with plush maroon couches for added comfort to the customers. At the back corner, the counter was also decorated with ukuleles lining up the top creamed wall.
Kyungsoo led Jongin to a table nearby the counter. They sat on the plush maroon seats next to each other and was greeted enthusiastically by a staff and briefed them that after they finished their drinks and food, they could go to the left corner partition for a free ukulele lesson.
“Instruments dislike me, but I want to give it a go!” Jongin’s enthusiastic response, beaming like an excited kid. And how can Kyungsoo object to that when he really wanted to try playing ukulele too? So with his charming heart shaped smile, a nod and a kiss on Jongin’s cheek, Kyungsoo said, “We’d definitely love to learn. We’ll see you later.”
When the man left, Jongin turned to Kyungsoo and grinned. “Wow, this shop is really not your ordinary coffee shop. Our followers would love this place, hyung!”
Kyungsoo chuckled, mussing Jongin’s hair. “I told you so,” he said. “How about we take some pictures first before we make our orders?”
In a flash, Jongin brings out his phone from his pocket and grinned. “Time for some picture taking!”
Kyungsoo laughed a little from his boyfriend’s happy demeanor. His boyfriend might be a coffee hater, but he was glad that no matter how many times he had brought Jongin to many coffee shops these past few weeks, he never heard a complaint from him. Even if Jongin had, in his head, some complains, because obviously he’s not a fan of coffee drinks, that doesn’t mean Kyungsoo would hate him for it.
"Jongin, you want strawberry milkshake?" Kyungsoo snapped him out from his fascination and admiration of the well-planned designed shop when he went back to their table after taking a closer look at the huge menu set behind the counter.
Jongin turned to his boyfriend who was scanning the menu for the third time, eyes narrowing to slits because of his astigmatism when Jongin finally answered, "Creme brulee. Just make sure it isn't poisoned," he said. Meaning, wasn't coffee flavored, but just purely creme brulee drink only.
"Ahuh," Kyungsoo gave Jongin a withered look. “They don’t serve those flavors here. How about milkshakes?”
“Oh,” Jongin pouted. “Milkshake. Do they have vanilla milkshake?”
“Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, yes they do have.”
Jongin grinned. “Okay, sexy, give me some vanilla drink,” he had the decency to smack Kyungsoo’s butt there in public and some patrons might have seen and heard that slapping sound. And of course, Kyungsoo scowled at his boyfriend before walking back to the counter to take their orders.
Having random conversation about school while indulging themselves with sugary drinks and cheesecakes was a fun past time for Jongin and Kyungsoo. The early signs of sunset had finally replaced by the inky navy blue sky, but the couple was still at their seats, feeding each other and sharing drinks. To Jongin’s surprise, Kyungsoo didn’t order coffee, instead, he ordered chocolate milkshake and Jongin had teased Kyungsoo that finally he was able to influence him that coffee is poison. Kyungsoo just snorted from the playful teasing and rolled his eyes.
“I used PhotoGrid.” Kyungsoo was on his phone and showed to him what he was working on. “Your photos are great, Jongin. Finally, I was able to teach you the great wonders of Instagram filters huh?”
“I learned from the expert.” Jongin cackled. “But hyung, we gotta go have our ukulele lesson now, it’s past 8pm.”
Eventually, Kyungsoo returned Jongin’s phone and looked at his watch. “You’re right.”
Empty glasses of milkshakes were left on the table, ends of the straws were nibbled shamelessly and that was a habit the couple both possessed. They dabbed their lips with tissues and after they claimed presentable, they went straight to a small room with their receipt for a free ukulele lesson.
To their pleasure, once they had their ukulele session with one of the shop’s owner, a Chinese decent, Zhang Yixing, Jongin enjoyed strumming the ukulele with his little knowledge with the chords. The first song they played was Can’t Help Falling In Love which Kyungsoo knew the song by heart since it was his parents’ theme song that he listens to when he was a kid. So when Yixing started the melody, the first few words, tumbled out from Kyungsoo’s mouth causing Jongin’s jaw to drop out of amazement and Yixing to smile.
“I suddenly want to buy a ukulele,” Jongin strummed without a melody.
“You should, if you really want to learn how to play one,” Yixing suggested gleefully.
“Maybe on our birthdays, we can buy one for ourselves,” Kyungsoo smiled firmly from his genius idea in which Jongin agreed too, eventually.
“Sounds fair to me,” Jongin’s shoulders from his subtle chuckle.
“Right, because you’re a cheap and just a broke college student.”
“But you love me,” Jongin said as finality before strumming the ukulele again while trying to sing Can’t Help Falling In Love in a terrible melody.
Kyungsoo laughed from his boyfriend’s antics and even took a short video of him to upload on his Snapchat account.

The pitter patter of rain on the window lulled Kyungsoo to sleep. He was curled up into a fetus position, cheeks puffing and pouty lips on display and a Pororo blanket was draped over him.
Jongin was at his desk checking their Instagram account. He was reading the comments on their previous posts and his lips were curled up in a smile as he read the feedbacks of their followers on their previous posts.
It felt like yesterday when Jongin and Kyungsoo, unexpectedly courted each other on the same day after four months of friendship that started from a school seminar about social media in Kyungsoo’s university.
That time, Jongin arrived late and was forced to sit at the far back of the auditorium where unknowingly, Kyungsoo, the guy he didn’t expect to be his boyfriend by now would be sitting there right beside him. It just so happened that Jongin made a comment from one of the speaker’s privilege speech and Kyungsoo just happened to agree with him and made a comment too about how terrifying social media could be. And they just started to open a topic about it and just discussed among themselves about their opinions and thoughts about the issue being tackled by the speakers.
Since they both agree with each other’s thoughts, they just instantly exchanged names and even had lunch together, causing their friends to tease them. More than that, one of Jongin’s friends is friends with Kyungsoo, so it was not that difficult to get Kyungsoo’s number from his friend and they started texting, until four months passed, they declared their affection for each other in the same day.
A year passed and they decided to live together, and a year had already passed when they started to make a joint account on Instagram where it was supposedly, at first, to post photos of their dates, as cheesy as it was, but due to the handful number of followers they got, and suggestions they received from their followers to visit this restaurant, to try this and that establishment, they decided to turn their account to a food blog, besides, along with food comes a memorable date for them. So it was a food blog and as well as an account to record and keep track of their dates in different places.
Jongin sighed dreamily after that quick thought of the past.
With a huge smile, Jongin opened a tab and searched for Mexican restaurants. There was this one follower who suggested trying Mexican food next. It wasn’t rare for them to receive food and restaurant recommendations, but it piqued Jongin’s curiosity on what Mexican foods could offer them. After googling a list of Mexican diners in Seoul, Jongin grabbed a pen and paper and listed down the restaurants he would love to visit with Kyungsoo. Moreover, there was this thumbnail that showed a tacos photo and he couldn’t wait for Kyungsoo to wake up, so he could tell about these Mexican diners serving his favourite tacos.
Jongin, next, jotted down the address of the top five restaurants he considered visiting with his boyfriend, when the other suddenly stretched up his arms and cracked his eyes open.
“Jongin, what time is it?” Kyungsoo slurred, half-asleep.
Jongin rolled his swivel chair towards Kyungsoo and grinned. “Hyung, it’s 5pm so wake up, we need to discuss something.”
“What about?”
“Some followers suggested we should try Mexican food next,” Jongin said with dripping giddiness. “Guess what? They serve your favourite tacos. Different types of tacos that for sure you’ll love to try.”
Kyungsoo shot up and scooted closer to Jongin. “May I see?”
Jongin handed him his phone where he googled the different types of Tacos, the restaurants offer.
“Oh. I’m not aware there are varieties of tacos.”
“Me too,” Jongin grinned. “So let’s consider going to these restaurants.” Jongin showed him the list. “What we just need to do is choose two.”
An hour of poring over the lists, finally, they decided where to go.
“Gusto Taco, and then Vatos.”
“This is the nicest way to wake up late in the afternoon.” Kyungsoo flashed his heart-shaped smile before putting his lips on Jongin’s.
*
It was a cloudy day. But Jongin and Kyungsoo were both equipped with umbrellas in case there would be a heavy pour. It didn’t hinder them to stick on their schedule and try some Mexican food at Gusto Taco.
The first one they visited was the Gusto Taco in Sangu-dong. Arriving at the said place, Jongin won’t stop wow-ing and whoa-ing , won’t stop complimenting the building structure of the restaurant and even telling Kyungsoo, Hyung, I feel like we’re in Mexico while tugging on Kyungsoo’s arm in extreme excitement.
Meanwhile, Kyungsoo was on his phone, swiping his thumb on the screen, until he stretched out an arm, slid his other arm around Jongin and said, “Selfie,” And the couple both brandished their most charming smile.
Inside, again, Jongin was like a child getting to know his surroundings with childlike wonder. Kyungsoo shared the same sentiments with his boyfriend. They had chosen the perfect place and just from arriving there, Kyungsoo already liked it.
The staff were welcoming, greeting them with smiles and a Hola! The cozy atmosphere and the Mexican music playing in the background was a plus too. Both of them could feel the Mexican vibe in the air.
The interior was very appealing to the eyes. The designs were very meticulously planned as some newspaper clips from Mexico were framed on the walls. A huge painting of Mexican people was also glued on a wall, with women clad in their traditional huipil clothes and men with their simple sarape clothing, matched as well with their traditional instruments.
Kyungsoo and Jongin took photos around after claiming a table at the far end where a vihuela was hanged on the wall, huge smiles and satisfaction etched on both of their faces as they work on their phones.
“Are you uploading them?”
“Let’s upload our selca first,” Kyungsoo suggested, swiping his screen with his thumb while Jongin watched him choose a filter.
“I’m using VSCO cam. I want to try it.”
“But it’s complicated,” Jongin whined, until a waitress handed them the menu jovially and Jongin took it with an attempt to speak in Spanish, Gracias. which got Kyungsoo to turn to him and snorted.
“Nice try,” Kyungsoo teased, receiving a pouted look from his boyfriend. “I already uploaded the picture. Time to order food.”

Feeling we’re like in Mexico ^___^
#foodiedate #selcadate #9493_journey
Jongin received a notification on his phone and took a look of it. Like the usual, Jongin was amazed from how good Kyungsoo could make use of the filters and other editing features, either it may be on Instagram, Photoshop and now, VSCO.
It didn’t take too long for their post to receive an influx of likes and comments.
“So, look. There are too many kinds of tacos here.” Jongin flipped the menu and scanned the pictures thoroughly.
“I want to try that Tacos de Asador,” Kyungsoo pointed out. “Did I pronounce it correctly?”
“Am I Mexican to know if you did?” Jongin snorted. “Just kidding,” he pressed a chaste kiss on Kyungsoo’s cheek before returning on the menu. “I wanna try this Spicy Chicken and Jalapeno salad.”
Kyungsoo stared at him judgingly. “You didn’t pronounce it right. It’s Ja-la-pen-yo not Ja-la-pe-no.”
Jongin pouted. “You’re not Mexican, hyung. I am not Mexican, so Ja-la-pe-no for me.”
Kyungsoo shook his head, cackling. “You’re helpless.”
“I’m hungry.” Jongin grinned and proceeded on taking a second look on the menu cover to cover. Once they were done choosing what they wanted to try eating, two glasses of watermelon agua fresco with orange peeled twists were served to them.
Immediately, Jongin took a photo of their drinks and making sure the angle was perfect. Kyungsoo was the one who used VSCO for editing while Jongin took a sip of the refreshing drink.
“Hyung, it’s good!” Jongin offered his drink to Kyungsoo, poking the elder’s lips with the straw. Kyungsoo took a long sip of it and agreed with him.
“This is good,” he said before taking a hold of his own glass and sipping for more.
“Next time, or maybe once we have stable jobs and was able to save, let’s go to Mexico for real,” Jongin suggested with a happy grin and Kyungsoo didn’t reject the invitation as he, too, wanted to travel the world with Jongin someday.
“If we’re still together, sure.” Kyungsoo loved teasing Jongin about whether they’d still be together in the future or not. From that statement alone, that made Jongin whine and pout in dissatisfaction and disappointment.
“Of course we’d still be together after graduation and after we get our jobs and become busy. Hyung, don’t doubt it. I won’t let this relationship we have to go nowhere. I’m serious, hyung.” Jongin huffed, his forehead creasing and he was a little upset that Kyungsoo would still pull that ‘If we’re still together’ stunt whenever he talked about their future together. Every word Jongin said was true. He really still did see them together after graduation even there if there would be a lot of implications when they finally have their own jobs.
Unavoidably, yes, they’d be busy with their own respected jobs, but to Jongin, he wouldn’t let anything hinder him to be with Kyungsoo no matter what the circumstances are.
But it seemed like, Kyungsoo couldn’t see them in the future the way Jongin sees them.
“I’m sorry,” Kyungsoo apologized sincerely, but Jongin wasn’t in the mood anymore, yet he just nodded, half-heartedly forgiving his boyfriend and to his relief, their orders arrived. “I was just really joking.”
“It’s not a good joke.”
The food right in front of them looked very appetizing. And to save the heavy atmosphere from getting heavier, Kyungsoo busied himself taking several photos of the food, though he already took a handful of photos of them.
“Seriously, I’m hungry.” Jongin pulled the bowl of his spicy chicken and started eating.
Kyungsoo didn’t say a word to ease the tension at all. He knew very well that Jongin was upset of him, but he did nothing except eat quietly while stealing glances at his boyfriend, he, too didn’t have thoughts of leaving.
It was overtly quiet between them. They didn’t talk at all or made comments about the food they were eating. They just kept stuffing food in their mouths, but the stolen glances were very blatant between them.
After eating, and no matter how much their tummies enjoyed the luscious food they got, they didn’t thoroughly enjoy the food. Something was amiss. They might be physically present, but it felt lonely.
Kyungsoo called the waitress to get their receipt and pay the charges. Jongin, on the other hand, was busy on his phone and Kyungsoo deduced that the other was playing his favourite game Slither.io. Once they finally checked out, Kyungsoo turned to Jongin and asked, “Are you mad?”
He got Jongin’s silence as his response.
“Jongin,” Kyungsoo began. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to tell you that I can’t see myself in the future with you. I was just teasing you, believe me.”
Jongin sighed and slipped his phone in his pocket before staring at Kyungsoo intently. “I’m not,” he stood up. “Let’s go home.”
But Kyungsoo wasn’t dumb to know the truth. Jongin was definitely mad at him. Or upset. Heck, Kyungsoo felt miserable.
*
Back at their shared apartment, Kyungsoo couldn’t take his eyes off Jongin and he badly wanted to fix whatever this they have. It was so apparent that Jongin was disappointed. He might not be mad, but he was upset of Kyungsoo and Kyungsoo wasn’t stupid not to feel it.
“Jongin, let’s talk.”
Jongin was at his desk with his unfinished novel. “I’m busy.”
“Jongin,” Kyungsoo was growing exasperated. He pressed his forefinger and middle finger on his temple for a circular massage before taking the other swivel chair from the other side and sliding next to Jongin. “Talk to me, please.”
Jongin was obviously not reading. He just kept on turning the pages of his novel absentmindedly.
“I know I’ve said those words to you a lot of times, but trust me, I don’t mean anything on those words,” Kyungsoo guaranteed, but Jongin was being stubborn, not looking at Kyungsoo’s eyes.
Kyungsoo rested his head on Jongin’s shoulder and stayed silent instead while looking over the pages Jongin was turning.
The rain poured outside along with the roaring of thunder, but the couple never flinched or let the rain disturb them. Pages turned and the onslaught of rain on their window glasses was the only sounds close to their ears. It was rather comforting, despite the tension between the couple.
“You don’t doubt my love for you, right?” Jongin finally spoke and Kyungsoo was quick to answer, “I don’t. I love you.”
Jongin surreptitiously placed the book on the desk and turned to Kyungsoo. A small smile was etched on his lips as he soon declared his love for his boyfriend. “I love you too, dks9312.”
That earned a snort and small laughter from Kyungsoo from addressing him by his username on Snapchat. “You’re just really too head over heels for me.”
Jongin grinned, his eyes crinkling and Kyungsoo was finally rest assured that they were okay now. “I told you, I’m not giving up on you no matter what. No matter how scary the future might be for us, no matter how threatening the implications are after graduation. I’ll stay with you and hyung, please don’t joke like that anymore, because whenever you do, it scares me and it makes me think that I might not be probably enough for you.”
Kyungsoo was tongue tied from the words firing out from Jongin’s lips. Yes, they were in a relationship for three years now, but Jongin never said things like this to him before and it overwhelmed and saddened him at the same time as he couldn’t believe that the man he met in a seminar three years ago would be the man that would truly love him deeply like this. But sad, as he felt guilty for making Jongin feel like he was not enough, when in fact he was more than enough and Kyungsoo couldn’t ask for more of him. Jongin was enough. The life and relationship they had was enough. And never did Kyungsoo see himself falling so deeply in love like this with someone and Jongin was the only person who made him feel this way.
Kyungsoo brought his palm on Jongin’s cheek and stroked it affectionately. “I’m sorry for making you feel that way. I know you’ve been upset with me a lot of times whenever I say those words to you. And I just did it again today, and you finally snapped. But seriously, whatever the future would be for us, I’m not going to give you up easily. Trust me, Jongin. And again, I’m sorry.” Then he pressed a fleeting kiss on Jongin’s forehead which caused the latter to close his eyes.
As their eyes connected, seemingly conversing through their gazes, huge smiles adorned their lips when suddenly, the thunder roared loudly and a loud commotion outside was heard coming from their neighbours.
“The power is out!”
Kyungsoo quirked a brow and listened more to their neighbours grumbling about the lack of electricity, but that only made him and Jongin laughed in amusement.
“Good thing we have power bank.” Jongin pulled out the power bank from the drawer and waved it in front of Kyungsoo in glee. “We can still upload the photos from earlier.”
Kyungsoo tittered and fished out his phone from his pocket before working on it and directing the camera on their faces. Kyungsoo pressed his cheek with Jongin’s and took a selca of them together.
“Hyung?”
“Hm?” Kyungsoo looked up at Jongin from his phone.
“Sorry if I somehow ruined our date earlier.” Jongin rubbed his nape sheepishly along with an apologetic smile.
But Kyungsoo didn’t dwell on it anymore as he smacked a kiss on Jongin’s cheek and grinned. “We can always go back there. Or if we get enough money next summer, let’s go straight to Mexico and travel there.”
With that said, a cute smile adorned Jongin’s lips, relief and happiness was apparent on his face from the promise that holds the words that fell out from Kyungsoo’s lips.
“I think, I have to look for a part time job,” Jongin mused, nodding his head.
“I think, I’ll do the same,” Kyungsoo also mulled over, nodding as well.
“So travel buddies around the world next year?” Jongin waggled his brows.
“Well, we’re 9493_journey anyway, so let’s step up to the next level!”
“Okay! 9493_journey next level soon!”

“You should have told them we’re going to Mexico next year,” Jongin whined.
“We can’t give them false promises, Jongin.” A kiss on the lips and Jongin was okay with it.
“Fine, but really, I’ll make sure we’ll go there next year.”
“And eat tacos.”
“And go to the beach!”
“And kiss?”
“Then make love?” Jongin suggested with a mischievous smile.
“Definitely.” Kyungsoo agreed without qualms.
“At the beach.”
“No, at the hotel you perv!”
Jongin gathered Kyungsoo around his arms and laughed in mirth. “I can’t say no to you.”
They looked at each other’s eyes, legs tangled as they remained sweaty on bed. The power was still out, but that couldn’t hinder the two to cuddle on bed swiping each other’s sweat. “Me too, I can’t say no to you.”
Later, when the power came back, and Jongin was haphazardly sleeping on their bed, Kyungsoo opened his Snapchat and used the effect that swaps their faces. Jongin was in deep sleep, but Kyungsoo was having a good time on his own.

Also on Instagram, Kyungsoo uploaded his photo with Jongin earlier with their cheeks pressed together on his personal account. With a happy smile, he pressed Share for everyone to know how deep his love for Jongin is.
