Chapter 23
Back to Square One
As much as Chanyeol tried, he couldn’t win. He realized this when Baekhyun threw him a smile as if nothing happened between them that morning and that he had happily gotten his rocks off from Kris’ large hands. It took a second to recollect himself. If he hadn’t done so, he would’ve thrown the pup outside and finished what he had started with Baekhyun right there in the kitchen.
Pulling himself from the sexual fantasy of having Baekhyun eat his words-amongst other things-against the kitchen counter, Chanyeol stood up from the table. Baekhyun’s eyes followed him as he continued to bounce Nugget on his lap. “You’re not eating?”
“Not hungry.”
Baekhyun cocked his head to the right. “Why not?”
Chanyeol glanced at him. “I need to go to town.”
“For what?”
“You don’t need to know,” Chanyeol replied as he pushed his chair in. “At least not now.” When he saw that Baekhyun was looking to argue, Chanyeol cut him off before he could even start. “Where’s Kris?”
“In the shower,” Baekhyun said, moving his eyes down to his plate. It was just a guess, but he did figure that Kris would be there.
Chanyeol sarcastically laughed before starting to move back down the hallway. “And how would you know that, Baekhyun?” he asked mockingly.
“He invited me to join him after he satisfied me,” Baekhyun said, shrugging as Chanyeol’s face turned to stone. “I had to turn him down, unfortunately.”
While Chanyeol was gone, Baekhyun was left to quietly sulk and curse the guy for what he had done that morning. After leaving the room, Baekhyun had thought about going to Kris since his hands were similar to Chanyeol’s and it wouldn’t have been too hard to fantasize that it was the tyrant giant doing those things to him, but Baekhyun knew that Kris would’ve wanted more than he was willing to give.
Where Chanyeol had gone? Baekhyun didn’t know. He didn’t know what the giant was going off to buy, and he didn’t understand why Chanyeol had decided to leave at that moment when he could’ve been off working on whatever work he had been working on for the last few days. Baekhyun just figured that Chanyeol was embarrassed to some degree for what he did, but he put this thought aside because he didn’t like thinking about Chanyeol regretting things concerning him.
After Baekhyun finished eating, he went back to his bedroom and switched out of his clothes and into a pair of shorts meant for swimming. He knew that he had Chanyeol’s room to clean still, and he knew that Kris’ room still needed to be tended to after he was done taking that supposed shower, but Baekhyun didn’t care. Chanyeol could make him hard to the brink of painful insanity, but he couldn’t stop Baekhyun from going into the ocean in broad daylight.
Town was small. It was small, but it had an aristocratic feel since most of the people who ventured there had their owned large villas along the coast also. People around the area were nice, but when Chanyeol was moving through the only pharmaceutical store in the town looking for lube, he couldn’t help but feel like he was going to be judged by the elderly woman who clerked the store.
He struggled with the thought for a moment before he decided he didn’t care. To him, it didn’t matter if he could never show his face in the store anymore due to embarrassment. He’d have to face sickness and disease alone with no medication. But on the bright side, he’d have lube and he’d have Baekhyun spread beneath him. It’d be worth it despite the fact that Chanyeol silently promised himself that he wouldn’t uncap or use the tube until the time was right.
Baekhyun’s subtle defiance was something that Chanyeol expected, but Kris was not part of the equation. Coming home, Chanyeol noticed that the house was quiet except for a very, very subtle noise of laughter coming from one wing of the house. The laugh was no doubt Baekhyun’s. Looking out the clear glass door, Chanyeol took note of the others, who were on the beach playing some sort of make-shift three person game of soccer.
Chanyeol moved over to the hallway, heading towards his room. When he realized that the farther and farther he walked in the direction of his bedroom the less and less he heard Baekhyun’s snorting laughter, Chanyeol stopped. He wondered where Baekhyun was at if he wasn’t in that wing of the house, but he didn’t have to rack his brains too hard, figuring that the sarcastic, sexual idiot was off on an escapade with his business subordinate-who was one personal mistake away from being fired and blacklisted from every industry Chanyeol had connections to.
Reaching Kris’ door, Chanyeol went to turn the knob, but found that the door was locked. Immediately after shaking the knob, the laughter and low chuckles in the room stopped and Chanyeol couldn’t help, but feel extremely annoyed.
Pounding on the door with one hand while gripping his bag of shame in the other, Chanyeol demanded entry. “Yah! Baekhyun!” When he heard nothing in response, Chanyeol growled. “I know you’re in there! You haven’t done any of your jobs yet!”
After a moment, just as Chanyeol was getting ready to hit the door again, Baekhyun pulled the entry open. “I was cleaning Kris’ room.”
Chanyeol scrunched his face disapprovingly at the maid in front of him that tried to feign innocence. “Cleaning someone’s room doesn’t involve locking locks and laughing,” he scowled.
Baekhyun cocked his head and smirked. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t aware.”
Gritting his teeth, Chanyeol finally took notice of Baekhyun’s damp appearance. “Why the fuck are you wet?”
Baekhyun shrugged. “I don’t know.” Using both of his hands, Baekhyun’s nudged Chanyeol aside and squeezed passed him. “I’m going to finish your room-what’s in that?” he suddenly asked, pointing at the bag.
Chanyeol wasn’t too focused on what he had bought at the moment, but he still managed to respond. “Not your business.”
Baekhyun quirked his lips before snorting. “Fine.”
Once Baekhyun was gone, Chanyeol turned his focus on Kris. “What was he doing in here?” Seeing Kris’ damp hair, Chanyeol stared daggers, but he kept his calm.
“Cleaning. Just like he said,” Kris replied with a smirk that Chanyeol wanted to knock right off his face. Motioning to the bed, Kris went on. “Like the bed and everything.”
Seeing the look on Chanyeol’s face, Kris sighed. “No, he didn’t join me in the shower. I woke up late and I saw him standing over me, nudging me with that dog of his. He was already wet.”
Throwing the presumptions aside, Chanyeol thinned his lips as he gave in, seeing the logic of the situation and subsiding his jealous side, which he hated with a passion considering he shouldn’t have been feeling anything like that towards his stupid maid-not fiancé. Maid.
Stepping inside the room, Chanyeol looked around. “I still don’t understand what all the laughing was about.”
“Is happiness banned in your household, Mr. Park?” Kris snorted as he walked over to the desk in the room.
“Baekhyun’s laugh annoys me,” Chanyeol muttered. “It’s loud and distracting.”
“I like it,” Kris replied.
“Well don’t.”
Kris eyed Chanyeol for a second before shrugging. “Whatever. You’re the soon-to-be husband here.” Then he motioned for Chanyeol to join him near the desk. “We were laughing because Baekhyun kept making fun of you.”
Moving towards the desk, Chanyeol scrunched his face. “Oh really?” he said, not surprised at all that the idiot would take jabs out on him through insults.
“Yeah, but then he saw your work on my desk. I was looking over them last night and he saw them sprawled all over the place.”
Chanyeol’s eyes widened. “You let him see the-”
“Relax,” Kris said, rolling his eyes. “I watched him. He was too busy criticizing you on your ‘lack of creativity’ and ‘overly complicated math’ to notice anything else. Look.”
Chanyeol drew his eyes from Kris and looked at his mechanical drawings. He could see where Baekhyun had made the changes in terms of the size and width of the design’s arm. Adding onto that, he also saw the place where Baekhyun had changed the math and put them in simpler terms.
“He said that you didn’t need to be so complicated,” Kris said. Raising his eyebrows, he heaved his shoulders. “I don’t know if that means anything other than the obvious. I don’t know your relationship, because quite frankly, it seems a little confusing.”
Chanyeol kept silent for a second, letting Baekhyun’s words laminate over him. “So you two were basically fucking around with my work,” he said, sounding a little irritated. He didn’t like it when anyone redid any of his work without his permission and knowledge.
Knowing that Chanyeol was aggravated, Kris took the paper that they were focused on and flipped it over. On the other side, Kris revealed a white sticky note stuck on the back of the page. “He said that if you seemed angry, I had to show you this.”
After Chanyeol looked over the sticky note, he frowned. He wasn’t amused to any degree at the fact that Baekhyun drew his head in the shape of a penis that had slanted eyes and abnormally large ears, nor was Chanyeol amused at the scribbled message on the side of the paper that told him to go mange une bite.
He didn't buy Baekhyun's morphed smiley face either.
For the last few days of Kris’ stay, Baekhyun still interacted with Chanyeol, but it seemed as if it was mockingly forced. His sarcastic smile hid daggers that Chanyeol knew were there, yet didn’t necessarily care about. He was already used to Baekhyun’s habits. The one thing that did annoy Chanyeol was that Baekhyun began to stick around Kris.
The mornings after their sexual encounter were the total opposite of Baekhyun’s attitude towards him the rest of the day. The first day after their foreplay, Baekhyun slapped him on the face. Chanyeol was immediately put on a bad mood, but that early-morning anger was quickly distinguished with Baekhyun grabbing his face and forcing a kiss on him. Not being the one to reject any progress, Chanyeol quickly participated, but just as he was beginning to deepen it, Baekhyun pulled back and pushed him back on the bed. When Baekhyun wiped his lips with his arm, Chanyeol found himself a bit ticked off.
On the second morning, Baekhyun “woke” him up the same way-or at least he had planned to. Just as his hand was coming down to strike Chanyeol’s face, Chanyeol, who had woken up ten minutes prior by alarm clock, caught his hand and pulled his body on the bed, quickly capturing his unsuspecting fiancé’s mouth.
After minutes of trying to fight for dominance, Chanyeol won, but it was Baekhyun who clutched him by his bare shoulders and pushed him away. “Is this going to go anywhere?” he asked seriously.
Chanyeol shrugged casually. “Probably not.”
Taking it the wrong way, Baekhyun scowled slightly. “I don’t like games.”
“Neither do I, but you keep playing them with me anyways,” Chanyeol muttered before he tried to put his mouth on the side of Baekhyun’s neck.
But, Baekhyun stopped him. “Breakfast is ready,” he curtly said before slipping from Chanyeol’s hold and standing back on his feet, fixing his shirt. “Kyungsoo woke up a little happier today. Probably because Kris is leaving later tonight.”
Chanyeol scoffed as he plopped back on the bed and looked at Baekhyun’s nonchalant face. “Kyungsoo’s not the only one happy that he’s leaving tonight.” Resting his arms behind his head, Chanyeol closed his eyes, fully aware that he laid naked right in front of Baekhyun. “No more work for a while…”
“So, back to what it was like before.”
“Basically.”
Baekhyun glanced at him for a moment before looking away with a forged grin on his face. “Alright, then.” As he walked away, he reminded Chanyeol again. “Breakfast’s is waiting already.”
Chanyeol’s eyes watched Baekhyun as he turned to leave for the door. He nodded, but midway, his thoughts were caught on Baekhyun’s previous question. Sensing something wrong, Chanyeol jumped out of bed, stark naked. “Wait.”
With his hand on the knob, Baekhyun turned back. Momentarily, his eyes ran down Chanyeol’s naked figure before returning back to meet the giant’s eyes. “Yes?”
Chanyeol paused. “What did you mean ‘back to what it was like before’?”
Baekhyun glanced up at their ceiling as he quirked his lips off to the side. “You know, back to when you weren’t cooped up in your room all day or when Kyungsoo wasn’t so on edge whenever Kris enters the room.”
Chanyeol probed more. “Anything else?”
Baekhyun blinked, and then as if he realized something else, he raised his brows. “Oh. Yeah, this,” he said, motioning back and forth the both of them. “We go back to being maid and boss, not maid and boss with sexual benefits.”
Upon hearing Baekhyun nonchalantly draw another line in between them, Chanyeol clenched his fists and tightened his jaw. “I told you, Baekhyun. I fucking told you that I didn’t want you acting like that morning never happened-”
“I never said I was going to pretend that morning never happened,” Baekhyun scoffed with a tiny grin. “The feel of your hands getting ready to slip inside me felt great, don’t get me wrong. I like you-physically, at least, as far as I know, but I thought about what you said.”
Chanyeol froze. “What part exactly?”
“Hmmm,” Baekhyun creased his brows, trying to recall. “I think you said something about physical attraction. You know, that,” he said, motioning to Chanyeol’s naked member. “I can be honest with you, right? Since you’re the one paying me, I should tell you about my complaints like every other work facility, can’t I?”
“What complaints do you have, Baekhyun?” Chanyeol scowled.
Baekhyun didn’t say a word for a few seconds, but then he blurted out, “Recently, I’ve been wanting to ride you!” Chanyeol was taken aback and the look on his face caused Baekhyun to explain hurriedly. “See, I don’t know. I was the one who said that we were only maid and boss, but then that happened-again- and you left me in the fucking cold to deal with a hard on you induced. Now, I can’t focus on anything like cleaning your dumb floors without fantasizing you fucking me on them like we’re on a twenty-four hour sex marathon!”
Out of breath, Baekhyun put his hand up. “And so I was thinking. What would happen if we were to, you know, do that? It’d make things awkward, I would say. What are we supposed to tell the others? That we’re going at it like it’s mating season?”
“They don’t need to know what we do,” Chanyeol argued.
“They don’t need to know, but they’ll find out!” Baekhyun huffed. “Okay, short story time.”
Chanyeol growled. “I don’t want to hear a fucking short st-”
“-Well,” Baekhyun cut in, continuing on anyways. “I lived in dorms back when I was in college, right? There were a handful of students living there, but I was the only one banned from having sex-the only one in the entire building.”
Chanyeol didn’t care. He didn’t wanna hear about Baekhyun's past sexual activities because the only activity Baekhyun should’ve been thinking about was the one happening between them at the moment.
Still, Chanyeol had to ask. “And why was that?”
Baekhyun slanted his lips. “There’s a funny reason why I was called The Screamer, Chanyeol.” Seeing Chanyeol’s facial expression change, Baekhyun quickly moved on. “No one needs to tell the others anything because I’m pretty sure they’ll hear me.”
Chanyeol hesitated for a moment before taking a step forward. “I don’t care if they hear you.”
Baekhyun blinked before grinning up at him. “I’d love to scream for you, Chanyeol. I’d love to scream for you during vigorous, thigh-burning sex, but I like Sehun and I like Kyungsoo. I like your house and, oddly enough, I like working for you. I think that you’re an angry, bitter guy, but at the same time, I know that that’s not true because you’re just a corny pushover.”
Sighing, Baekhyun shrugged. “I don’t know how things will end up if we continue on like this. I don’t want it to become so bad that I have to leave, because I really do love it here.”
A silence came and went. “So you’re cutting me off again because you don’t know how things will go after it happens?” Chanyeol demanded to know.
Turning the knob and slowly pulling the door open, Baekhyun grinned. “As much as I like being spontaneous, this is just one of those things I’m not gonna take a chance on because I don’t want to lose this place.”
