My Gratuitous Advice of the Year

Jul 01, 2012 00:17

Before getting to my gratuitous advice of the year that nobody's asking for (:D), let me thank all of you who commented in my last entry.  I want to make sure people know that there's nothing wrong with feeling offended or disappointed by the comment he made.  It just didn't bother me at all, but I know that's just me.  I also think that Japan is ( Read more... )

Well I'm sorry you felt you had to but hey don't let your friends go about all misinformed or misled if you can help it. You know I feel that way for sure. If they continue to follow someone's weird fantasies so be it. You tried.

Hey val does that mustache tickle ;)

Exactly. I wasn't gonna touch it unless I heard more about it personally, and... Yeah. =/

My mustache tickles very much, yes. I'm trying to keep it away from my rosy skin as much as possible.

I had this issue with a few girls on FB a week or two ago, this exactly. They were claiming that the "real" GACKT was on facebook and they had his profile but "he told us not to tell anyone what it is". Classic sign of a liar (the "GACKT", not them. All three girls are super gullible). The kicker was that they said their friend was a close personal friend of his and she could prove it because she had his autograph *headdesk*. I even got internet-yelled at for saying G wasn't on facebook as far as anyone was aware, and if he was he wouldn't add some fans and not others. Even after pointing out the fallacies, I still think they believe he's the real deal. Usually by then I'd just shrug and walk away, but what makes me especially sick about this is 1.)the one girl is super gullible, like low self-esteem gullible, and two 2.)he's asked her to do some very wrong things that recently just backfired on her when someone hacked fb. I'd love to rake this person over the coals.

Forgot to add, don't know what prompted this but I think it's important that this type of thing gets said a lot. Everyone was gullible once in their life, and it hurts a lot less to spot a liar or a poser before you get too involved than after. So thanks for saying it.

Oh, thanks. ^^
I really didn't want to because I don't want to interfere with other people's business, but something happened and I really felt like I had to say something. I mean, I would've felt guilty if I hadn't said anything when I know something is going on. =/ (Sorry for the vagueness!! X'D)

Don't apologize for the vagueness. This came up in another fandom I visit, and I really feel it's important. Finding out you got taken in by a poser (and you will eventually find out) hurts like hell (been there). Especially new fans should be warned about the difference. I truly believe if he wanted to add fans on facebook, he'd make a page for it (would be better than a profile). And if he wanted it kept private, I don't believe a single friend in his circle would tell. For anything.

Haven't you given this advice before? I seem to vaguely recall it somewhere... it's very good advice, andone who has been in the fandom for about 2 years would know that such people DO exist and one needs to stay away from them.

is it just about being 'open about sex'? being 'casual' and 'public' equals being 'open'? actually, I'm not calling you out on this, coz I'm not very sure myself, whether the two things are the same or not. I would need to think it over a little more.

I don't think I have, not as a public post anyway.

They don't 'equal', but I think 'casual' and 'public' can be part of being 'open'.
I'm not speaking for the entire people of Japan, though. It was just my personal observation.

OMG~
Wait, so this 'celeb' showed up on the forum and announced himself as the celeb himself? =A=

How did you all find out he was fake? During or afterward?

Oh, that's epic~~~ X'D

But isn't it just amazing that someone can just show up and say "I'm so-and-so" without any proof, and everybody falls for that?

Oh, Internet, I love you, but you can be such a troublemaker, too. tsk tsk tsk
