kitsuneyujji~♥ I'm not entirely sure, but I'm considering writing a B-side to this, from Changmin's POV. What do you think?
"I love you, Yunnie~"
A calm voice and a familiar weight shifting and wriggling on top of him slowly disrupted mind-clouding mists in Yunho's subconsciousness. When he finally cracked his eyes open, lifting his head to see what exactly the other wanted, his forehead banged right into Changmin's, and all he could see were big, dark eyes blurring together in his vision. Why did that boy have to get so close?
It was... he finally looked away from those wide, unwavering eyes to check the alarm clock. 2:53 a.m.. Why. Why did Changmin feel the need to pull his leader out of the precious few hours of rest he could get?
"Nnh...? ...You woke me up to tell me that?"
Yunho's eyes were still fighting to stay shut, but he'd have none of it. Changmin wouldn't have woken him up unless he really did have something important to say. He just had to wait for his dongsaeng to get to the point.
Once he was sitting up, Yunho curled his arms around the youngest, pulling him properly into his lap. The boy fidgeted and squirmed on top of him silently, brows furrowed as if this was a very important matter-a habit Yunho would never admit to finding completely adorable-until he found a comfortable position.
"Yes," Changmin answered curtly as he rubbed his head, the word accompanied by a sure, single nod, his tone suggestive of complete and utter seriousness. Yunho could only blink in response at first. What was the catch, the hidden reasoning behind the younger boy's actions? When was Changmin going to finish his thought, mention some conversation they'd had earlier that his hyung had forgotten about, or make some sort of strange request?
The youngest member was a boy of opposites: he was either cryptic beyond all reason, or almost painfully straightforward. He couldn't stand to have anyone come near him, or he would pick one member to latch onto until he could get the attention he wanted. He was so bright his intellect left others in the dust, or so clueless it was a wonder he knew what he was doing. Changmin definitely earned his spot at the top of the 4chawon rankings.
"You know I love you too, M-"
Yunho gave the other that usual 'of course, just let me go back to sleep now' voice. Of course he loved Changmin. He loved all of his bandmates, the four singers that had, over the years, become his brothers. They brought out all that was best in him; he needed them as much as they needed their leader. But Changmin shook his head and cut Yunho's sentimental thoughts short.
"That's not what I meant," he said, rolling his eyes. Yunho huffed a little. How was he to decipher Changmin's elusive and tangled thought processes at this hour? Come to think of it, how did Changmin still seem so... articulate at this hour?
"Then what did you...?"
As Yunho trailed off, Changmin just sat patiently, watching and waiting for the implied meaning to sink in. It didn't take long, and suddenly Yunho balked, mouth hanging open. He didn't believe the youngest, of course, not at all. Someone like Changmin would have taken more time with something so important, would've planned it out and thought it through a hundred times. He sought perfection in everything he did, more so than any of the others. So... what was the catch?
"You don't really-" Yunho knew the enigmatic boy in his lap was not in love with him. But...
"Yes I do, hyung. I love you."
Changmin looked so sure of himself and his words. There was a tranquility in his eyes that Yunho rarely saw. He looked so peaceful and carefree; he looked like he was expecting to wake up to a sunrise on the beach, a day where he could do nothing and had no responsibilities. A day with no rehearsal, no performances, no press conferences, airport field trips, or stage names needed.
"You know we can't."
Yunho sighed, tone wistful-would any of them ever have the chance, or the time, to be involved with anyone?-as he ran his fingers through his hair to brush away the bangs in his eyes. Changmin's hair was even messier, random pieces sticking out every which way atop his head. It didn't seem to faze the boy at all, though. His ambiance was nothing short of complete formality. He hadn't even cracked a smile.
"Can't what? What is it we can't do?"
The youngest's eyes glittered in challenge. Changmin never liked to hear that there was something he couldn't do. And he made a point to prove anyone wrong who dared to tell him that, especially if it was something Yunho said he couldn't do. He might not take the most obvious route, but if there was something Changmin wanted to do, things had an eerie way of working out just the way he liked them to, and it was only once it happened that the boy's odd actions made sense.
"We'll be caught. If not by management, then Cassiopeia."
Between the two, there were absolutely no secrets the boys could keep that were guaranteed to stay secrets. Yunho couldn't believe Changmin would even consider a relationship with anyone, much less something as risky as dating his own leader. He could picture management having kittens at the thought already.
"Caught how?"
Changmin actually looked puzzled. The usual sarcastic edge to his voice wasn't there at all. He honestly didn't understand what Yunho was talking about? The thought itself was bemusing all on its own.
"You know exactly what I mean, Minnie. Stop playing around."
Really. Five minutes of consciousness and Yunho was already patronizing Changmin. This was completely ridiculous.
"There would be nothing to catch us doing, Yunnie."
Changmin heaved a sigh, speaking carefully and inching closer to look the older man directly in the eye, his tone the one to use when explaining something to a child. Something Yunho did not appreciate.
"What... are you asking for, then?"
There was a Do you plan on making sense anytime soon? plea in his eyes. But Changmin either didn't notice in the dark, or he ignored it.
"Did I ask you for something?"
"No, but...." Yunho sighed.
"I love you, Yunho."
"Stop sa-stop saying that, Changmin. You'll wake someone up."
"No, you'll wake someone up."
"Is this all you woke me up for? To tell me you love me?"
"Basically."
"You ruined a good dream and woke me up at three in the morning, risked waking everyone else up and pissing them all off, just for that little declaration?"
"It's two fifty-seven."
Changmin gestured to the glowing numbers on the alarm clock next to them with a shrug.
"...Don't you dare change, Shim Changmin."
Yunho hugged him tightly, a lazy smile on his face. He could never stay mad at his baby for long. Now annoyed, on the other hand....
"I'd only change for you, Jung Yunho."
"..." Yunho wasn't entirely sure what to say to that.
Changmin's actions were so out of the blue... he had never fully considered the idea of a relationship while in Dong Bang Shin Ki. Why put someone through the hell of stalking, obsessive fans and dangerous antis just so he wouldn't be lonely?
"I love you, Yunnie."
"Would you quit that?!" Changmin was so... exasperating!
"I love you, Yunho."
"I heard you the first time!"
"I love you, Jung Yunho. Leader-sshi. Hyung."
"Changmin...."
"Boo."
This time, there was a longer period of silence between the two. Apparently Changmin was more than happy to wait Yunho out and force him to be the next one to speak, like before.
"I love you too, Minnie."
"See? That wasn't so hard."
"But we-"
"We talked about that already. We won't get caught, it won't jeopardize anything, the others don't even have to know."
"How-?"
"Love isn't sex. Or making out in dark corners. Or fancy dinners. Or walks on the beach. Or rose petals."
"Then what do you want, Minnie?"
"I already got it."
"Got what?"
"You."
Changmin seemed to be doing his best to make Yunho seem like a true idiot, like everything he was saying was so very obvious and how could Yunho not manage to follow his train of thought?
"That's it?"
"...Duh."
While Yunho was trying to make sense of Changmin's words, the other's head was cocked to one side, eyeing him as if he felt the need to decide what to do with him. Eventually Changmin forced Yunho down onto his back again, rolling off the other man and tucking him in properly, blankets all the way up to his hyung's neck, before sprawling out on top of him again with absolutely no regard for anyone's comfort but his own.
Without even giving Yunho a chance to react, Changmin's lips were already meeting his own. His kiss was slow and sure, the offered contact intimate and full of warmth. Truly, it was something hard to refuse-
Yunho awoke with a start, reaching out for something that wasn't there. Extra warmth, straying blankets, but no Changmin. In trying to get up, he could swear his bed had shifted out from beneath him all on its own and landed his ass on the floor. Yunho sat up, rubbing his eyes and for some reason, half-expected a laughing maknae to be holding out a hand to pull his hyung up to his feet.
Hnh. Some dream.
But the entire thing had left a sweet taste in his mouth.
With a sigh of resignation, Yunho raked his fingers through his hair and stole a glance at the clock on his way out of the room. 6:38AM.
"Fuck," he mumbled on his way to the kitchen, already beginning to hear voices starting to cross the line from discussion to argument.
"I did not!" Yoochun's exasperated yell rang down the hallway. Yunho heaved another sigh. It was awfully early to have to play his leader role.
Finally he could sneak a peek into the doorway of the kitchen as he came closer. Yoochun's stance was relaxed, arms crossed, leaning against the wall and looking thoroughly frustrated with whichever of their bandmates was accusing him-just out of Yunho's line of sight.
Probably about breakfast. Probably either Jaejoong or Changmin. Yunho found himself coming to a stop just outside the doorway-hopefully out of sight-to watch the scene without infringing on it.
It had to be a scandalizing Jaejoong Yoochun was protesting at. Yunho could see Changmin's profile at the table, calmly finishing his breakfast without a care in the world. Briefly Yunho wondered if the youngest had earplugs in or was listening to his iPod. With the two members on either side of the table, clearly still suffering from early morning bitchiness, Yunho couldn't see how anyone could just sit there amidst that kind of tension, much less look so content.
"Then explain something to me," Jaejoong was saying in that patronizing I-am-the-band-umma tone Yoochun couldn't stand to hear.
"If my cereal was still here last night, Yunho's asleep, Junsu's in the shower, I haven't eaten yet, and Minnie's been stuffing his face with everything under the sun except cereal this morning... where has the last of my box gone?"
Yoochun opened his mouth to answer, already preparing the most innocent expression he could muster, but Changmin saw Yunho watching them first, brows lifting in slight surprise.
"Oh, good morning, Yunho-yah," Changmin chimed cheerfully, lifting the last slice of the honeydew melon he'd been devouring.
Yunho balked halfway into the room by the time he-in a sudden moment of clarity-licked his lips again, meeting Changmin's gaze. The younger man's eyes were bright with amusement, particularly when he saw Yunho's eyes gradually drifting over his shoulder to the countertop behind Changmin, surface bare-with the exception of an empty bowl that had been filled to the brim with fruit just the day before.
"...Something wrong, hyung?"
No answer. Yoochun leaned forward, swiping a hand in front of Yunho's face, a little concerned by the faraway look in the older man's eyes.
"Yah, Yunho!"
"...It's seven. Make sure you'll all be ready to go on time."
"It's six forty-nine," Changmin spoke up, briefly glancing at the clock on the wall.
